Teddy Still Dead, Obama Still Dropping Like a Stone
by Tammy on August 31, 2009Welcome to Monday. The freakish Teddy death ‘sympathy bounce’ liberals expected for their Fool-in-Chief didn’t happen. This means DeathCare is still on life-support and not expected to survive. Marilyn Monroe, Mary Jo Kopechne and Martha Moxley all still had no comment. In other news, Americans aren’t morons and appear to be sick and tired of all the hypocrisy, arrogance and incompetence still oozing out of Washington, DC. Rasmussen: Daily Presidential Tracking Poll The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 30% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11. Twenty-nine percent (29%) are...

Dick Cheney Speaks Out
by Pat_S on August 30, 2009A post by Pat Dick Cheney had a lot to say this morning during his interview with Chris Wallace on Fox Sunday. He says the investigation of CIA personnel is political and a bad idea. It “offends the hell” out of him. In the intelligence arena, we ask those people to do some very difficult things. sometimes that put their own lives at risk. they do so at the direction of the president. they do so with the — in this case, we had specific legal authority from the justice department, and if they’re now going to be subject to being investigated and prosecuted for the next administration, no one’s going to sign up for those kind of missions. it’s...

Paul Krugman’s Two Different Worlds
by Pat_S on August 29, 2009A post by Pat Economics has been called the dismal science. Depending on the political leanings of the economist, it can be bright and happy too. Although Paul Krugman had a dismal assessment of deficits in 2004, he’s now repeating his recent “deficits saved the world” mantra. Till Debt Does Its Part Aug 27, 2009 So new budget projections show a cumulative deficit of $9 trillion over the next decade. According to many commentators, that’s a terrifying number, requiring drastic action — in particular, of course, canceling efforts to boost the economy and calling off health care reform. Right now deficits are actually helping the economy. In fact, deficits here and in other major economies saved the world from a...

A Late Version of Shots from the Show
by Tammy on August 28, 2009Sorry about being tardy, today got a little crazy :) Here’s the linkage of shots for you. I would have to say the most appalling story today, posted below, was the revelation that Obama is actively seeking, and Senate Dems are actively trying to provide, a way for B. Hussein Obama to control and shut down the internet in the event he decides there’s an “emergency.” The other stunning moment is brought to us by Teddy Friend Ed Klein. If he is to be believed (and who would lie about this) Kennedy regularly joked about ‘Chappaquiddick’ the preferred euphemism for the death of MJK. So, our first link–audio of Best Friend of Teddy, former Newsweek editor Ed Klein telling NPR...

Obama’s Fascist Face: Seeks Control of Internet
by Tammy on August 28, 2009Of course it all depends on what your definition of “emergency” is. Bill would give president emergency control of Internet Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet. They’re not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency… Probably the most controversial language begins in Section 201, which permits the president to “direct the...

“KennedyCare”??
by Maynard on August 28, 2009A post by Maynard It’s almost too obvious to speak of, but here’s the irony of naming a healthcare bill after Ted Kennedy. Part of the theory of government-controlled healthcare is that money will be saved by the “intelligent” allocation of resources. This means you’ll live or die based on the government’s assessment of your quality and quantity of life. I’d argue vehemently that the government has no business making those decisions, and in fact to do so would be unconstitutional…but let’s set aside the legal/ideological discussion and get back to Ted Kennedy. In describing the treatment for Kennedy’s fatal cancer, this article notes: Kennedy’s cancer, a glioblastoma, kills almost everyone who gets it, usually in about a year. Although...

Henry Rollins Asks “Where’s Mary Jo Kopechne’s Eulogy?”
by Tammy on August 27, 2009In Vanity Fair of all places we finally have someone asking the right question. This astounding event inaugurates the first Tammy Blog “Flying Pig Award” recognizing and lauding the right thing from quarters least expected. Below is a snippet. Please do read the whole thing, and the comments attached to the article are also worth a read. Some of the more thoughtful remarks about a young woman the left would prefer be forgotten. (HT Kruiser) Where’s Mary Jo Kopechne’s Eulogy? …I am very well known, a United States senator. My family is incredibly powerful. There are allegations that I had been drinking heavily hours up to the time I got into the vehicle with the passenger. I deny this for...

Shots from the Show 8/27
by Tammy on August 27, 2009With all the crap in the news, I thought this nice picture of Sarah Palin would be a nice juxtaposition. Don’t say I never gave you anything. ;) China’s national flag to fly outside White House [I'm still looking for a second inside-US source on this but in the meantime, thought you should see] Former TIME reporter compares Kennedy’s death to 9/11 More on Jaycee: Girl missing since 1991 found alive; two arrested The death of right and wrong, manifest. Madeleine All-Dim calls Lockerbie plane bombing an “accident.” Look, when you’re setting the country on fire, it’s just so much easier to have everyone be on drugs. Just ask the Mexicans! Mary Landrieu seems to have realized that you hold...

Girl Missing for 17 Years Found Alive
by Tammy on August 27, 2009If you lived in Southern California in the 90s, the face of this then-little girl was everywhere. Kidnapped off the street, one could only imagine the horrible things she went through. Then the presumption was, killed. Reports now indicate a 29- year old woman claiming to be that 11-year old kidnap victim has presented herself at a Bay Area police station. For her family’s sake let’s truly hope it’s her. And her story, no doubt, will be riveting and a lesson for all of us. Kidnapped girl reportedly surfaces in Concord A woman who has been missing from her South Lake Tahoe home has reportedly surfaced in Concord, 18 years after she was kidnapped. Jaycee Dugard, who would be 29...

Memo to George Bush
by Maynard on August 27, 2009Maynard advises the former president Mr. Bush, I know you’re a busy man, so I’ll be brief. You have kept a low profile since leaving office. Aside from being the customary course of action, this is a politically savvy move, in light of your successor’s desire to blame you for everything that’s not right with the world. Whether he’s justified in his accusations or not, charges against an invisible target tend to be counterproductive. You are of course aware that Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed a special prosecutor to investigate possible illegal interrogation techniques applied during your administration. I think the gravity of this situation justifies a brief appearance by you. I would suggest you draft a short memo,...
