TA Update Alaska:
Attended Senator Murkowski townhall in Wasilla. She succinctly stated that to date, the federal government has not and cannot provide adequate health care to Alaskan veterans and seniors. She said she would not sign anything that makes undeliverable promises to any American. She also addressed the bipartisan voting, and referenced Senator Begich as another elected person in dire need of enlightenment about health care. Senator M also told the audience she had signed an amendment(?) which assures all federal employees and elected officials get whatever health care plan we get. Not a one democrat signed it she said. "What do they know that we don't"?
One selected questioner asked the audience members to raise their hand if they support any government health reform and about a dozen hands showed, out of over 500 people in attendance. An interesting fact Senator M provided was that Alaska is spending 15% of its budget (about 1 billion) on medicare. Does anyone know how much per recipient that is? We only have a total population of 750,000.
