One of the many infuriating things about Bush was that he would never just explain why he was doing things that the left were screaming about. He seemed detached and somewhat aloof as if his actions needed no explanations or defense. Perhaps it was that no matter what he said, there was an army of lefty news outlets and lawyers ready to pounce. Barkey is going to witness the ire of "we the people" if someone pops a dirty nuke somewhere in the next year. Of course, it will be blamed on the anger created by Bush that caused the "man-made disaster", not the prosecution of CIA, and handcuffing, and blinding of our anti-terror operatives.

Mr.Bush never made a stand for OUR TROOPS when he was in office so I don't have much confidence in his doing so now. That was his biggest weakness...NOT communicating what the American wanted to hear- a strong leader, proud and capable of protecting our Great Country!

People have wondered why George W. Bush never defended himself or the policies of his administration especially in its final two years. He just sat back and let his opponents pound him and pound him with little or no response. My own personal theory as to why is that sometime in early to mid-1996, Bush suffered a mild stroke. It didn't incapacitate him physically but it did have some effect on his mental status. In other words, he was 100% physically but only 75-80% there mentally. Only his closest aides and advisors knew this and that's why he was seemingly hunkered down in the White House all the time, rarely giving news conferences and barely bothering to respond to anything. It would explain why, in the final two years of his presidency, Bush seemed to be just "there" and little else. Perhaps he should have stepped aside. Perhaps not. I don't know that something like this happened to the man but it would explain some things.

It seems that Dick Cheney has really been doing the President's job more so than G.W. Bush, who seems to be more interseted in writing his memoirs-as if he's got it made already-than he is ready to face a punk like Obama. I hope I'm wrong, but I have had this continual feeling since Bush was elected that he used us conservatives to get in office, and then slowly but surely sold us out issue by issue until there was no politcal capital left...with the uiltimate sellout being that he won't even stand up for his own anti-terror policies (excluding of course his bonehead endorsement of Illegal Immigration)-or were the anti-terror policies Dick Cheney's after all?
