Please visit the Podcasts page for your media. :) If you’re not a member of the US of Tammy yet, please join us now! Here’s your Open Thread for today’s Weekend Tammy Radio. we’ll be starting off with Palin today and how ‘advice’ for her from someone like Newt Gingrich, or anyone else in the beltway, should be ignored. Newt Gingrich’s advice for a Sarah Palin comeback Paul Begala, of course, loves Newt’s advice to Sarah because it would strip her of what makes her so viable–her outsider uniqueness. Newt wants her to become...

Crime on a Credit Card
by Pat_S on August 15, 2009A post by Pat The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ, Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it – Omar Khayyam “He paid his debt to society” is a detestable phrase. I cringe every time I hear it. I’m not focusing on Michael Vick, a man who delighted in savage cruelty to imprisoned animals and now wants the slate wiped clean. All the beneficiaries of this fictional ledger keeping are criminals. Often they committed more than one crime, diligently trying to avoid discovery. There was nothing in their hearts to make them stop on their own. After being caught they...

Sanjay Gupta Recruiting Kids on CNN To Be H1N1 Vaccine Guinea Pigs
by Pat_S on August 14, 2009A post by Pat I thought Sanjay Gupta turned down the job as Surgeon General. Here he is with a thinly veiled pitch to sign up your kids to be guinea pigs for H1N1 swine flu vaccine tests. Two adorable playful little boys, ostensibly of their own volition, decided to volunteer for the H1N1 vaccine tests. One boy says he wants to do this because a schoolmate died from another kind of flu and he wanted to prevent that as much as he could. Their mother, who coincidentally volunteered for a vaccine test in 1976, says she has complete trust in the people doing the study. The boys’ grandfather is a pediatrician and he’s all for it too. He wants...

Obama Agrees with Me on Health Care…and That’s Frightening!
by Maynard on August 13, 2009Maynard explains why being right isn’t the point Here’s a clip from this Bloomberg article. I absolutely agree with the point Obama is making. President Barack Obama said his grandmother’s hip-replacement surgery during the final weeks of her life made him wonder whether expensive procedures for the terminally ill reflect a “sustainable model” for health care. The president’s grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, had a hip replaced after she was diagnosed with cancer, Obama said in an interview with the New York Times magazine that was published today. Dunham, who lived in Honolulu, died at the age of 86 on Nov. 2, 2008, two days before her grandson’s election victory. Obama said “you just get into some very difficult moral issues” when...

Palin Power: Senate Removes ‘End of Life’ Provisions
by Tammy on August 13, 2009Palin, apparently an irrelevant quitter yet strangely powerful typer, forces the Senate to do the right thing with two Facebook posts. This is called leadership and will prevail regardless of the medium. It also speaks to the impact and import of Palin’s positions despite the establishments, both political and media, insistence (aka strange, misplaced hope) that she’s irrelevant. Palin responded again last night on Facebook to attacks on her exposure of the Death Panels as part of Obama’s DeathCare agenda. This time she did it with a hard slap at the Obama admin and viola, after being derided as “nuts” and out-of-touch, Grassley of the Senate Finance Committee made this statement today: Finance Committee drops end-of-life provision The Senate Finance...
