The Compulsion to Confess?

Every dollar I’ve proposed, I’ve proposed an additional cut that it matches.

—Obama during the presidential debate, Oct. 15, 2008.

Three days ago, before the word “liar” exploded into the headlines, Thomas Sowell had written a column entitled “Listening to a Liar”, Part I and Part II. Sowell focuses in particular upon Obama’s note of extreme urgency to pass his agenda into law.

Why the rush? These programs take years to implement. The only reason to move ahead so quickly is to quell comprehension. As we have learned with respect to Obama’s plans, a small amount of reflection reveals a large amount of folly.

One plain fact should outweigh all the words of Barack Obama and all the impressive trappings of the setting in which he says them: He tried to rush Congress into passing a massive government takeover of the nation’s medical care before the August recess— for a program that would not take effect until 2013!

…The only reasonable [explanation] seems to be that he wanted to get this massive government takeover of medical care passed into law before the public understood what was in it. Moreover, he wanted to get re-elected in 2012 before the public experienced what its actual consequences would be.

Faster than the speed of thought is apparently Obama’s hallmark.

Unfortunately, this way of doing things is all too typical of the way this administration has acted on a wide range of issues…

Consider the “stimulus” legislation. Here the administration was successful in rushing a massive spending bill through Congress in just two days— after which it sat on the President’s desk for three days, while he was away on vacation. But, like the medical care legislation, the “stimulus” legislation takes effect slowly.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that it will be September 2010 before even three-quarters of the money will be spent. Some economists expect that it will not all be spent by the end of 2010.

You remember how Obama pushed the stimulus? “Hurry! Or else a disaster will become a catastrophe!”

What have we been sold? Nobody understands these programs, although most of us have a sense of that we’re being bamboozled. In a rare moment of candor, Obama acknowledged, “What do you think a stimulus is? It’s spending— that’s the whole point! Seriously.” But that’s been papered over; try asking the man on the street what “stimulus” is and you’ll get a blank look. And who understands that “cap and trade” is a fuel tax, for the purpose of rationing? You may have figured out that “health care” is also a tax and rationing, but you didn’t hear it from Obama.

President Obama has also declared emphatically that he will not interfere in the internal affairs of other nations— while telling the Israelis where they can and cannot build settlements and telling the Hondurans whom they should and should not choose to be their president.

When confronted on these points, as contrasted against the absurdity of Obama’s promise to bring us the most transparent administration in history, Obama’s loyalists inevitably turn on the Bush bashing. “Yeah, well George Bush lied us into war, and that’s worse!” Which is of course nonsense…you can reasonably argue against the war or lament the failures of intelligence, but “lied into war” is itself a lie, and an obvious one.

I’m not sure if Joe Wilson did the right thing with his untimely and, in my opinion, inadequate interjection. If every Obama lie was interrupted by a “You lie!”, his speeches would never be able to conclude. The process would go more smoothly if we just assumed it’s a pack of lies from start to finish, and only interrupt when a point of truth is made.

You know, when I heard that shout from Joe Wilson during the speech, it thrilled me to my core. Thank you Joe Wilson, you said what we all were thinking. Finally, someone with a spine and a pair! As soon as it happened I thought, “Now that is something Patrick Henry or Samuel Adams would have done — call a liar a liar!” No, we don’t want our processes debased and degenerated into shouting matches but sometimes when you love your country and you see it being undermined and rotted from within, you just have to speak Truth to liars. No more happy talk; speak the Truth boldly.

Hmmm…Is [D]ear Leader actually admitting [the compulsion to confess in action?] that there is gargantuan waste by the government beauracracy? And that if it is cut, it can actually pay for his DeathCare?
    ….Mmmm-ka-ay

Tribute to Joanne Mary Cregan, 32 years old, died on September 11, 2001

It is with great honor and sadness that I write this as a participant in the wonderful Project 2,996, a tribute to each innocent victim who perished at the hands of Islamic Muslim terrorist murderers on September 11, 2001. These victims must not be forgotten.

Joanne Mary Cregan was only 32 yesrs old. She died because lunatics and psychopaths committed to terror, death, and darkness were able to accomplish the most heinous and evil act on 9/11/2001.

I would like the politicians in Washington, especially the President, Attorney General, the Speaker of the House, and members of Congress, along with various and sundry czars, ex-czars, special assistants and pundits to stop their lipservice tributes and examine closely how their actions are dishonoring the memory of Joanne Mary Cregan and the rest of the 2,996 victoms who perished on that day. Their actions continue to enable the barbarians, murderers, psychopaths and allow evil to prevail.

This young woman did not deserve to die. It is a disgrace that the politicians mentioned above are working so hard to plunge a knife into the heart of our national security. I am addressing these politicians directly with the following.

You release terrorists, play footsie with terrorist regimes and despots, invite enemies of the US to barbeques, change the name of the War on Terror (why? — to try to paint a happy face on a vicious foe committed to wholescale slaughter of the innocent?), mirandize enemies of the US caught on the battlefield, and take every opportunity to denigrate the US, but have no trouble hounding, harassing and criminalizing the brave CIA agents who kept us safe for 8 years.

You demonize President George Bush and Dick Cheney. Dick Cheney is a tough warrior. He worked with President Bush to do his job which was to protect American citizens from any further terrorist harm. Your actions are weak and cowardly and show complete moral confusion. You worry about the comfort and rights of terrorist murderers in callous dismissal of their innocent victims, many of whom jumped out of windows, holding hands, while plunging to their deaths. That is an outrage. Your arrogant attempts to take some hypocritical morale highground are bankrupt, transparent and a disgrace to all the brave Americans and others who either continue to risk or sadly sacrificed their lives to preserve our freedom and liberty. Are you really so disordered or are you just playing politics?

I hope you take heed. The citizen revolt that you are also trying to disminish and demonize has been sending a loud message that we are not pleased with the job we hired you to do which is to keep us safe and to preserve the ideals upon which this great nation was founded.

I cry out in honor of the life of Joanne Mary Cregan and all the others who perished demanding that you act righteously in humility and service to a cause greater than your petty political careers and over-sized egos.

God Bless American, Joanne Mary Cregan and all the victims of 9/11, our wounded warriors, and all the brave fighting men and women of the US military.
