his' business' is suppose to be upholding the constitution of the united states, representing the will of his constituents. if someone, oh, say a member of the executive branch, is actively destroying the rights of the people and peeing like an untrained puppy on the entire constitution (and by virtue of such on the People), shouldn't therefore the business of the Honorable Miss Thing, the most ineligible dried up spinster in the senate, be to oppose such action not aide and abet?

since we're gong all french and effete with this, it's high time to quote from one of the most important documents in the history of democracy- the declaration of the rights of man( approved by the national assembly of france 1789):

"3. The principle of all sovereignty resides essentially in the nation. No body nor individual may exercise any authority which does not proceed directly from the nation...

13. A common contribution is essential for the maintenance of the public forces and for the cost of administration. This should be equitably distributed among all the citizens in proportion to their means.

14. All the citizens have a right to decide, either personally or by their representatives, as to the necessity of the public contribution; to grant this freely; to know to what uses it is put; and to fix the proportion, the mode of assessment and of collection and the duration of the taxes.

15. Society has the right to require of every public agent an account of his administration.

16. A society in which the observance of the law is not assured, nor the separation of powers defined, has no constitution at all."

we're quickly moving to the point of having 'no constitution at all' and this fool is nattering about working with the person driving us to that point while positing that we're insane for being irate at what's going down while he's the tranquil and rational prim and proper lady.

This is what I have been seeing in the past 20 years. The blue blood coutry club Republicans are very collectivist. They just want the government to pacify the public and regulate business in their favor. High taxes for wage earners and big tax breaks for wealthy people. Goodies for the rabble and the unwashed, to keep these barbarrians outside the gates. That way, they can pay themselves a modest salary that is highly taxed, but they tax shelter gobs of money through complex tax codes, that exclude various categories of income from taxation.

The Democrats want to do the same, only they favor labor unions (partly because every dime the union workers are paid is taxed more heavily), and they give the same breaks to the wealthy aristocracy. They favor old money (families that have generations of wealth) and despise new money (Joe the Plumber), who they punish with taxation to keep him from ever moving into their "class". You have to be a "google" founder to break through this system by making an overwhelming amount of money. Enough that after keeping a fraction of the profit, you can take advantage of the tax shelters to join the aristocracy.

I have thought about the third party route, but that's a long slog. The only way to do that is to put the third party into county and state governments, doing a good job and getting re-elected. Once some critical mass is reached, you have a real party, -- a political machine. Unfortunately term limits help to prevent the emergence of a third party, by shutting off new people without a machine behind them. Notice in California how all the politicians are continuously recycled and running for different jobs after terming out. They even create a miriad of jobs on various "advisory boards" so they can park people after terming out, and before new elected positions are available.

The other way to go and the best shot in the near term is to work to dump RINOs by hard fought primary challenges, and reject these blue bloods when they don't live up to their rhetoric.

As Frederick Bastiat said: "Either the few plunder the many [aristocratic], or the many plunder the few [socialistic], or nobody plunders anybody [libertarian]. Now let us try liberty".

Obama I guess is not a great speaker. Looks like Rio gets the Olympics. The president of Brazil told him to get ready and lose again. He lost an Airbus contract to Brazil. He may now lose the Olympics to Brazil.

Cannot wait to see how well he does with Iran.

I guess the rest of the world does not like his arrogance and his wifes attitude. Will Ms. O be allowed to return on Air Force I or will she hide her head for a few weeks?

Graham is a great example of why I tend to NOT vote for incumbents--no matter what the party. They are all so out of touch.

Sorry, but Goober Lindsay Graham just got re-elected in 2008. The Democrats ran a former Ron Paul supporter who changed parties against him so you can pretty much guess what happened. When faced with a choice between RINO Goober and a kook, the voters of South Carolina picked the lesser of two evils. One prominent Republican state legislator had been expected to provide a stiff challenge for Goober in a primary but he got nabbed in a cocaine sting. The only hope of getting rid of Goober these days seems to be that he'll slip up and get caught in a men's room somewhere a la Larry Craig.

When Graham entered the senate I had high hopes for him. He has been an extreme disappointment almost from the very beginning. We deserve better.

If the people of South Carolina don't get some balls and recall this man, well, I've lost respect for them. He lied, just like Urkel to get into office. Do you seriously think the people of South Carolina would have voted for Sotomayor? I don't think so, Grahamnesty!
