the women in the manson family were drones and sex objects- they did what they were told by the men. tex watson was manson’s right hand man and was the chief killer literally at both the tate and labianca murders. atkins herself alone is the one who claims to have killed tate . it’s the story she blabbed to her cellmate that broke the case open. later she claimed she held sharon down and tex stabbed her. even amid the family atkins was known as problematic and one f’d up cloud of doom- and that’s saying something. she lied so much and so cravenly that she lost her deal with the prosecution- nothing she said was reliable and they noticed her gory inclination to freak people out.

she’s equally guilty in my view and deserved death but the manson women are always front and center to be heaped with scorn- richly deserved- while the male who did most of the killing, tex watson- who knows his name? he too comes up for parole- and if not for sharon’s tireless mother and sister no one would notice because he isn’t one of the crazy hippy chicks- the chief manson pr symbol. misogyny allows us to project the majority of the blame on the women effectively shielding the main killers-the males. the only convicted manson family murderer ever paroled is male.

tex watson the primary killer of everyone at cielo drive is a minister who has gotten the chance in jail to father 4 children( a program started by then gov. ronald reagan and ended by sharon tate’s mother through activism. surely a reagan heart breaker.)- while sharon tate’s child died with her that day. most with any direct knowledge of the crime believe he indeed was as the one who stabbed sharon tate to death.

as to presidents pontificating on crimes before any trials a la obama, nixon declared manson guilty midtrial. manson held up a newspaper saying such to the jury trying to cause a mistrial. he did it during the testimony of the woman- the manson girl who couldn’t kill- who provided the evidence that put them all away- linda kasabian. if the prosecution relied as they originally hoped to on the notorious liar atkins , how different things may have turned out.
