Once again the Dems allow some strange guy with a questionable past to become a player because he spent a lot of money. Now they’re caught with some inexperienced neophyte who could “put us all in jeopardy.” Funny, but that sounds weirdly familiar…

Dems run from Ill. gov’s running mate, an unknown with steroid use, abuse allegations in past

Just when Illinois was starting to move on from the scandals of ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich, along comes Scott Lee Cohen.

After the political unknown managed to win the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor Tuesday, it became widely known that he was accused of abusing his ex-wife and holding a knife to throat of an ex-girlfriend — a woman who was herself charged with prostitution. He also admits using steroids in the past…

Cohen, a pawnbroker and owner of a cleaning supplies company, ran against several veteran politicians but spent $2 million — mostly his own money — on his campaign, more than twice as much as all his opponents combined.

Cohen was arrested in 2005 on domestic battery charges for allegedly pushing his then-girlfriend’s head against a wall and holding…”I never tried to cut her throat,” he said on WTTW.

Hmm, when a politician has to say “I never tried to cut her throat” I think that may indicate there’s a little problem there. But maybe that’s just me.

It sure tops “I am not a crook.”

Maybe the next topper will have to be “I am not a cannibal, they were injured anyway, and I want to see any of you go 17 hours without food after that much ganja,” as the jammed elevator is opened.

Sounds like Chicago and or Illinois is turning out some colorful freaks.

I only pray he doesn’t become a national figure. We’ve had enough of Illinois politicians for at least a generation.

Apparently being a thug has been a prerequisite in Chicago politics since Capone ran the place.

    The pot calling the kettle…..

Democratic Illinois Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias called for embattled Illinois Lt. Gov. Democratic nominee Scott Lee Cohen to step down, in the wake of allegations of domestic abuse, anabolic steroid use and being behind on child support payments as Cohen was pouring $2 million into his own campaign:

“These revelations are deeply disturbing and there is no place in society let alone public office for this type of behavior,” Giannoulias said in a statement.

Alexi Giannoulius has many asking questions about his past associations. Giannoulius, like Obama, has had dealings with the infamous Tony Rezko. Giannoulius is the Illinois State Treasurer, but before holding that office he worked at his family owned bank, Broadway Bank. The bank has been accused of dealing with mobsters as well as Tony Rezko.
Another negative for Alexi Giannoulius is the fact that he is deemed a part of the Illinois political machine. Giannoulius, who used to play basketball with Obama, will have a hard time convincing voters that he wasn’t created in the same mold as Barack Obama, Rahm Emanuel, and Rod Blagojevich.

Wow, the stupidity and corruption knows no bounds. Maybe we should just give Illinois to Canada…

The Democratic Machine is alive and well in Illinois…

“For the good of the people … I will resign,” a tearful Cohen told reporters at a news conference he chose to hold at a Far North Side bar during halftime of the Super Bowl.

Cohen’s decision came five days after Democratic voters bypassed five rivals, including veteran state lawmakers, and chose the rookie candidate who poured $2 million in personal funds into an advertising blitz for the state’s lightly regarded lieutenant governor spot. It marked one of the quickest and most dramatic changes to an Illinois political ticket in history. Democrats now face the prospect of filling Cohen’s vacancy on the ticket, a decision to be made by the 38-member Democratic State Central Committee. The committee, the governing board of state Democrats, is headed by powerful House Speaker Michael Madigan, the state Democratic chairman.
