Do you have a famous relative? I have a famous relative. You’re likely to be regarded as a failure when contrasted against your famous relative. But it helps if you choose a different career path. Personally, I adjusted to life’s tensions by living in Mom’s basement and sleeping all day, arising only in darkness to post on the Internet and write crackpot letters to the editors of various journals.

I am in good company. Johnny Weissmuller (he starred as Tarzan in the old movies) had a son named Johnny Weissmuller Jr. The son is noted for having played Chrome Robot #1 in THX 1138. And Dick Smothers‘s son, Dick Smothers Jr., became a pornographer. I hardly need mention the case of George Bush Jr.

Did you know that Darth Vader had a brother, Chad Vader? In contrast to his famous brother, Chad struggles to make a living as the manager of a supermarket in Wisconsin. His story is documented in this series of YouTube episodes. Note that, for some odd reason, these are listed in reverse chronological order, so you must start at the bottom of the list. Here is your link to the first episode. You’re welcome.

Up to Episode 4, Dog in the Store…WOOFAW! Hmm, wonder how they talked James Earl Jones into doing the voiceover.

I’m distantly related to Paris Hilton. Yes, I really am. How did a useless, bubble-head like her get a relative who’s a husband, father, Christian, and an college gratuate like me?

Dickie Smothers Jr. should get together with Bob Crane’s youngest son, Scott. Scott Crane at one time was selling porno tapes his father made during the 70′s over the web. That’s about as low rent as you can get.

Amelia Earhart, by marriage to George Putnam. That may explain why I am so nervous flying.

I am direct descendant of Civil War Major General ‘Fighting Joe’ Hooker, from whom the term ‘Hooker’ was derived for prostitutes… and….yes, I have heard it a million times growing up, my mother (now deceased) was a “Hooker”.

  6. BarbaraM says:

My grandfather’s cousin was Frederic March…
I wonder how many TAMs know who he is…
Also, my uncle was the first football player who wore a face mask, constructed by Paul Brown of the Cleveland Browns, to protect his broken cheek bone.

Well, I am HOOKED…hooked, I tell you! Chad Vader should have a series on real TV! That show is funnier than 95% of what’s on the boob tube these days. I’m through season 2 and ready to start season 3. What a hoot!

Closely related to Bill Maszeroski of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Believing that relatives only want his money, he doesn’t really keep in contact with anyone, which is a shame. I think it would just be cool to meet him. My dad’s brother and his son went to see him get inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame a few years ago.

I’ll have to check out those videos another time. Thanks for the heads up.

I guess this is close. My first pair of baby shoes were purchased from a shoe store owned by the father of U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers, who was shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960. Incidentally, the event occurred on the outskirts of the city of Ekaterinburg, which was where the Reds executed former Russian Tsar Nicholas II and his family in 1918.
