The surest trigger for this feeling is any news report concerning international diplomacy. We’re supposed to believe it’s all very nuanced–an intricate dance of double, triple and even more complex multiplicities of meaning. Normally I’m all for that kind of stuff in poetry, religion or fantasy. When it comes to war or peace, prosperity or ruin, the charade is too much for this gray-haired lady with dishpan hands. Is Obama Taking Advice from Former President re Sestak?

In the meantime, all seven Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee have joined Rep. Issa in calling for a Special Investigator into the matter.

It was once part of every boy’s life, full of pranks and magic and contraptions and other fascinating stuff. And cheap, too. Every now and then you’d scrape up enough allowance money to order a few trinkets. Mostly they turned out to be flimsy and silly. After admitting at least twice to having been offered a job by the White House to drop out of the PA primary (which would be called by some “a bribe”), Sestak suddenly doesn’t even want to utter the words.
