CNN Projects Sestak Ousts Specter!
by Tammy on May 18, 2010Woo hoo! Specter’s projected loss, Paul’s win shake up political landscape Voters in Kentucky, Arkansas and Pennsylvania decided primary election races Tuesday that had incumbents sweating and ideological activists looking to flex their political muscles in what is shaping up to be a tumultuous election year. In the night’s biggest contest, CNN projects Rep. Joe Sestak is the winner of Tuesday’s Senate Democratic primary election in Pennsylvania, defeating five-term incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter. But not-so-good news in the PA-12 race, the old Murtha seat: Also, CNN projects that Democrat Mark Critz defeated Republican Tim Burns in Tuesday’s special election to fill the House seat vacated by the death of Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. John Murtha.

Update From Tammy: I’m Blaming It On Obama
by Tammy on May 18, 2010I’m blaming Obama–he is now officially a pain in my ass. Well, sorta, more like a pain in my tummy. Here’s the story. I have been AWL (Absent With Leave) today and my thanks for your patience, especially on this election day. I had an appointment sent up with a GI guy (no the military type, the doctor type!) for the dreaded colonoscopy. He’s the best in Los Angeles and today, being the Super Special Election Day of course, was the only day he had open for months, so I took it. With all of the fascist shenanigans going on in Washington when it comes to our health care, this great doctor also still takes my insurance, so while I...

Specter Predicts Tea Party Takeover If He Loses
by Pat_S on May 18, 2010A post by Pat *UPDATE Please use this post as open thread for election results. Tea Party Supporter Rand Paul Defeats Republican Favorite Trey Grayson in Kentucky **UPDATE Sestak defeats Specter. What party will he turn to next? ***UPDATE Disappointing. CNN breaking news. Tim Burns loses to Mark Critz in PA-12. ====== Arlen Specter warns of tea party ‘take over’ As voters considered his fate throughout Pennsylvania, Sen. Arlen Specter warned on Tuesday that without him Democrats may not be able to fend off a tea party “takeover.” “If we’re not careful, if you don’t field the strongest candidate — frankly, like Arlen Specter — they’re going to take over,” Specter said of the tea parties. “Beating the tea party...

Contemplating Arizona
by Maynard on May 17, 2010A post by Maynard The situation in Arizona is pushing everyone’s buttons. As we get drawn into various skirmishes, let’s not lose sight of what the war is about. Fact 1: One of the primary responsibilities of a national government is to control its borders. A nation without borders isn’t a nation. The American government is doing plenty of stuff that a lot of us think is none of its business, but it fails to do its most basic job. Fact 2: A big majority of Americans realize that Washington isn’t controlling the border, and we see this as a serious problem. This opinion crosses party lines and ethnic differences. We the people are largely in agreement that the status...

“We Are All Arizonans Now”
by Tammy on May 16, 2010Following up on Chris’ first and excellent post on the current situation in Arizona, here is video of Palin’s appearance Saturday with Governor Jan Brewer. It is good to see these women understand the importance of standing their ground for this whole nation. The left must not succeed in the fascist tactic of bullying and threatening a state of this nation into submission on issues as important as law enforcement, safety and national sovereignty. I must say, I think supporting Arizona is now as important as kicking the bums out of Washington in November and in 2012.

Arizona: Boycott the Boycotters?
by Chris on May 16, 2010A (first ever) post by Chris **Tammy Note: Woo hoo! Welcome to the blogging part of the United States of Tammy Chris!!** In response to California’s kneejerk reaction to Arizona’s immigration law SB1070, some Arizonans are having their say, too. Some in Arizona canceling trips to S.D. San Diego tourism leaders and hoteliers fear they could lose a sizable chunk of business this summer from valued “Zonies” who are so angered by elected leaders’ recent censure of Arizona for its illegal-immigration law that they’re mounting an informal boycott of their own. The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau and several hotels report receiving e-mails and letters from Arizona visitors saying they intend to change their plans to travel here in...
