I am glad Tammy mentioned the new conservative women clip, because it had set off some bells and I couldn’t quite figure out why. I don’t like the idea that a group of women, fine though they are are being set-up as a “prototype”. Even if done innocently, and with good intention, I’ve seen what happens when we narrow the focus in this way. There are many fine and brave women who are taking that extra step and putting themselves in the national glare, however no one would suggest we put together a clip of the fine conservative men. We allow men to be whatever they are, and if they are conservative, great. Women are entitled to being treated in the same manner. I really don’t want to see a time when some women conservatives will be bona fide, while others are merely tolerated because, while we would have nothing to do with them because of their lifestyles or feelings on other issues, we need them with us for the moment. That is my line in the sand.
Ditto! And Tammy, as far as I know all, of the women featured in that trailer have always been conservative, so surely they have not experienced anywhere near the “awakening” that you have in your journey from troubled youth to liberal activist to independent conservative. Please know that your listeners and readers trust your analysis and are moved by your personal stories because we know that you have “been there and done that”, and while our lives and journeys may be quite different from yours, it is your honesty and integrity that shines through and sparks an awakening of thought that challenges, encourages, and inspires us. Thank you so much for “waking up to punch evil in the face” every day. We love you!!
I went to a Luncheon yesterday and Michael Ramirez was the speaker. WOW! He was Great. His new book full of his political cartoons is very special and beautifully done.
