An Irish Setter Is Best in Show at 2010 Natl Dog Show
by Tammy on November 26, 2010Clooney, 2010 Best in Show With the exception of his name, looks like a fine pup. Also, this is the first year that part of Sydney’s mix–the Leonburger– was included in the show. I must say people better stop naming their dogs after celebrities. The winner of the herding group was Beyonce, a 3-year-old female Australian Shepherd. That’s just plain freaking wrong. Clooney, an Irish Setter, Captures Best in Show at 2010 National Dog Show In Thursday’s National Dog Show competition, a Boxer named Scarlett had impressive credentials, but it was Clooney, an Irish Setter, who won Best in Show. Clooney and his handler, Peter Kubacz, summed up the day’s events with an interview at the end of the dog...

Now He Knows What It Feels Like
by Tammy on November 26, 2010Dumb Bastard elbowed during a basketball game. You know, while the Norks keep threatening war, and FedEx finally found it’s missing radioactive package, and the world is on the verge of collapse. (Courtesy of troublemaker DebSinger)

Playing Games With North Korea
by Pat_S on November 26, 2010A post by Pat The media is all in a fluff because Sarah Palin misspoke referring to North Korea as our ally. Last year our esteemed Secretary of State called the North Koreans unruly children. Why? Because they fired seven ballistic missiles when the U.N. said not too. I ask you, which is worse Sarah’s slip of the tongue or the Secretary of State’s attitude? Clinton likens North Korea to unruly children North Korea tested a nuclear device in May [2009] and fired seven ballistic missiles earlier this month in defiance of a U.N. resolution. “What we’ve seen is this constant demand for attention,” Clinton, who is in India, said in an interview that aired on Monday on ABC’s “Good...

Happy Thanksgiving On A Scale From One To Ten
by Pat_S on November 25, 2010A post by Pat Ok, I know they don’t observe Thanksgiving in the UK. I just wanted to make a point. The UK is going to start measuring happiness as a socio-economic metric just like unemployment and crime statistics. The ONS, Office for National Statistics, will start asking people how satisfied they are with their lives including their personal relationships. David Cameron is very keen on this idea. He wants to create a climate that is more family-friendly and conducive to the good life. Most of us would have our happiness index improve if the government would leave us alone. This measure that we are setting out today reaffirms the fact that our success is about more than economic growth....

Obama Forms Panel For Ethical Treatment of Humans
by Pat_S on November 24, 2010A post by Pat No, not at airports. It has recently come to President Obama’s attention that unethical research took place from 1946 to 1948 and we must be sure it doesn’t happen again. Back then the U.S. Health Department engaged in research in a Guatemalan mental hospital, infecting human subjects with syphilis. Obama, not wanting to put off dealing with a tough issue of immediate concern, has asked Dr. Amy Gutmann—Chair, Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues—to form a panel to review federal regulations and standards with respect to participants in scientific studies. The Commission is instructed to consult with international experts, especially Guatemalans, and hold at least one meeting outside the U.S. Very attentive to detail...
