This is pathetic. No treaty with South Korea. Scoldings about QE2. Little support for his China policy. The final G20 document is meaningless fluff.

This trip should end any doubt that Obama is no longer the international darling. Once there were cheering throngs. Now, failure and embarrassment. This exchange symbolizes the depth of the fall.

Obama and the Chinese Reporter.

Surprise!, it’s China and China will speak whether the American President likes it or not.

In Asia, Obama sees progress in measured steps, no home run

A defensive President Obama claimed progress Friday in a round of global economic talks that exposed discord over U.S. policy and doubts about American influence. Not every summit can be a game-changer, he said.

“Instead of hitting home runs, sometimes we’re going to hit singles,” the president said. “But they’re really important singles.”

The mighty Obama has struck out.

Just one word on that video of the Chinese Reporter–STUNNING!
Thanks Pat for bringing this to us.

That exchange with the Chinese reporter (linked above by Pat) is truly bizarre. Obama spends an eternity flailing to micromanage the nuances of who gets to ask the one question that he so generously put out. This guy is like one of the anal retentive hall monitors in the third grade; the one that tells you you’re walking too fast, and to go back and walk properly.

Maybe this was a staged stunt gone wrong. The emphasis on the one question, and the quibble over whether it went to a Korean reporter…this would make sense if there was someone there who was supposed to ask a planted question, but for some reason he didn’t show up and Obama had no choice but to call on the wrong man…and then he got nervous and tried to slither away, praying that his scripted stooge would show up and save the day. That would certainly explain what we saw. And it would be consistent: Not only is Obama lost without his beloved teleprompter, but now he can’t get through an exchange unless his audience is also taking their cues from a teleprompter.

south korea is about in the worst place one can imagine. the can be utterly devastated in a mere moment before the west even woke up. they have formal relations with communist- fascist china NOT the people’s republic of china( aka taiwan). they’re gonna let some china shill speak for them or else. they don’t have a choice. the rock and a hard place- that’s where south korea is and we can do less good for them in the balance of how much harm china can bring to them. urkel can leave asia after this stupid dance. they cannot.

china has all these people including europe by the nuts. and that’s where they have us- in case urkel was unaware. and he is unaware, spectacularly so. the ‘reporter’ was just underlying the fact while urkel flopped around like a flounder trying i think to prove , actually for once for him, a good point however mired in his complete lack of vision and understanding of the nature of china and what they put forth in the world.

i do not like urkel any more than any one else here. i’d ask a crack ho about foreign polocy before i’d seek out urkel for advice especially about economics and foreign trade. i think he was actually trying to let the koreans speak, knowing that this dude from china was going to dictate for them.( because china IS asia- mr. china seems to be implying.). perhaps he really was told he’d get to ask the korean press a question- but note how there was no translator anyway. he was totally set up-the genius didn’t see it coming. for once i think his intentions weren’t malicious. just the stupid that his faux idealism demands of him publicly.

    Obamao PWNED by Mao.

Idiot! Doesn’t Obama realize that most educated people in that region speak better English than he does?

Obama is a Harvard graduate! Perhaps no one told the Chinese reporter. There seems to be a misconception that Harvard graduates are intelligent and elitist. I have always wondered about Obama and his genius–if he is so smart, why would he lock up all his records, grades, writings?

There doesn’t appear to be any podcast content for Friday 11/12, whether I’m logged in or not. Did we miss something?

Very reminiscent of his Olympic visit and other foreign trips where he has accomplished nothing. Who goes overseas without first hammering out negotiations ahead of time? Oh, I forgot, a narcissist does. No need to part those seas ahead of time, I will just do it when I get there!

I do have to comment on something I see slowly happening…the tide seems to be turning just a bit…

I’ve been putzing around some of these overseas news sites this weekend, and whether it’s the elections two weeks ago or Urkel’s “apology tour 2010” from last week, there seems to be a slightly different “feeling” I’m getting.

These countries and “foreign superpowers” seemed to be laughing at the United States a year ago. Now, they seem to be laughing at Obama. This is a good thing.

WE THE PEOPLE being in control of our own country and destiny is what made this nation great. I cautiously (and slowly) see that point being re-emphasized around the world…

Patience, little tomatoes… we DO have a voice… and the world seems to be listening again…

    I LOVE US!
