The Saga of Sydney and Kitty Snacks
by Tammy on December 18, 2010Kitty snacks? What kitty snacks? I don’t see any kitty snacks. As many of you know Sydney was sick Wednesday, upchucking all night. She’s allergic to all grains and common proteins, so she’s on a special diet without those things. I had no idea what had happened but on Thursday I was told by the daycare place she goes to that a newbie had given Syd a snackie which I thought was the cause. But one milk bone biscuit? I thought that would cause maybe one problem, but all night long? Well, she was better Thursday and much better today until…late afternoon and it started again! From the title of this post you have a clue about what has really...

Austrian Man Fined–Yodelling Offended Muslim Neighbor
by Pat_S on December 17, 2010A post by Pat Austrian man convicted for yodeling while Muslim neighbours prayed Helmut Griese, 63, was found guilty of “ridiculing” their religious beliefs and fined nearly £700 by a court in Graz. Rather than face a protracted court case, with all its attendant legal costs, Mr Griese agreed to pay. The court heard how the Muslim family regarded Mr Griese as a “grumpy old man” whose open-air Alpine chanting was intended as a taunt aimed at their religion. The retiree was accused trying to “mock and imitate” the call of the Muezzin, who calls the faithful for prayer in mosques. They alleged that he always began his yodelling just as they knelt down to pray. Mr Griese was charged...

Zogby: Sarah Palin Person of the Year for 2010; GW Bush for the Decade
by Tammy on December 15, 2010I agree with this poll, not because I support Palin (I do), as I am also not an overall fan of George W. Bush, but it seems clear these two individuals have made an extraordinary impact on our political reality. For Palin, this last year certainly, and for the past decade, Bush. Do you agree? With this article, I think it’s a good opportunity to mention here what I noted on Tammy Radio today–my two co-bloggers, Pat S. and Maynard, are, shall I say, skeptical of Sarah Palin. I haven’t gotten the impression they’re against her, but perhaps we’ll hear more on their positions in this thread. I’ll encourage both of them to speak up. You do so as well....

CPSC Bans Drop-side Cribs
by Pat_S on December 15, 2010A post by Pat Drop-side cribs (manufactured primarily in China, Croatia, Slovenia, Taiwan and Vietnam) were of such poor quality and so dangerously defective, they are now banned in the United States. Problems resulted in recalling more than nine million cribs in the past five years. In some cases the cheap and defective hardware fell apart while the cribs were being assembled. Horribly in other cases, dozens of infants and toddlers suffocated after being trapped between the mattress and handrail. Trapped babies often could not cry out for help. A ban of drop-side cribs has been in the works for over a year. Today the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) issued the ban which will go into effect in June....
