Federal Judge in VA Declares ObamaCare Unconstitutional
by Tammy on December 13, 2010Here’s the linkage, and of course I will discuss all the details on Tammy Radio. This care relates to the Virginia challenge (thanks Virginia!!). Next Thursday a judge in Florida hears arguments in the challenge brought by 20 states. This is a good start but we have a long way to go. More soon. WSJ: Judge Calls Health Law Unconstitutional A federal judge ruled Monday that a central plank of the health law violates the Constitution, dealing the biggest setback yet to the Obama administration’s signature legislative accomplishment. In a 42-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson said the law’s requirement that most Americans carry insurance or pay a penalty “exceeds the constitutional boundaries of congressional power.” [...] Judge...

‘Repurpose’ (Triage) Begins In Detroit
by Pat_S on December 13, 2010A post by Pat Detroit wants to make it clear the city will still be 139 square miles. It isn’t a matter of re-sizing, it’s, ah, shall we say repurposing. Some sections of the city will have no civilized purpose at all. Less Than a Full-Service City More than 20% of Detroit’s 139 square miles could go without key municipal services under a new plan being developed for the city, with as few as seven neighborhoods seen as meriting the city’s full resources. Those details, outlined by Detroit planning officials this week, offer the clearest picture yet of how Mayor Dave Bing intends to execute what has become his signature program: reconfiguring Detroit to reflect its declining population and fiscal...

Justice Breyer on the Second Amendment
by Maynard on December 12, 2010A post by Maynard Tammy has linked Breyer’s comments, so I’m sure she spoke of this in her Weekend Update. I (Maynard) am posting this without yet having heard Tammy’s analysis… I’m always interested in hearing the best arguments of those that disagree with me. I’m not simply looking to win; I want to be on the side that deserves to win. To get there, I need to know why (or if) my best trumps their best. I thought we’d finally settled the argument about the Second Amendment, but here we find Justice Breyer of the Supreme Court still telling us why we’re wrong, and why we’ll ultimately be overturned. Alright, what did I miss? First, the Second Amendment, in...

Sensitive Data Part of Space Shuttle Going Out of Business Sale
by Pat_S on December 12, 2010A post by Pat Sorry Wikileaks, NASA beat you to it. NASA sold PCs with sensitive data The agency has been selling off computers, hard drives, and other equipment associated with the Space Shuttle program as it winds down. But the audit (PDF) by the NASA Office of the Inspector General (OIG) found security breaches at four NASA facilities: the Kennedy and Johnson Space Centers and the Ames and Langley Research Centers. Specifically, the audit discovered that 10 computers from the Kennedy Center were released to the public even though they still contained sensitive NASA data and had failed verification testing as part of their disposal process. Another four computers with data were confiscated before they were sold. Further, computers...
