The Open Thread Pirate Squirrel At Your Service

An Evening Update and Lovely Open Thread 🙂

I do want to take a moment to thank everyone for your support regarding the Slate article. Many of you were upset by the comments on that site and were very kind in sending supportive notes my way. That does mean a lot. I have to admit, I suppose I’ve grown used to being attacked–we’ve seen the nature of liberals exposed every time they’re confronted with someone or something that contradicts their worldview. So, yes, Todd Palin is Sasquatch, Sarah Palin is a murderer, and I am a racist. Of course, next week, I’ll be Sasquatch and one of the Palins (take your pick) will be the racist. The interesting thing about this unhinged behavior is it really does expose the increasing panic on the left and becomes like the Boy Who Cried Wolf. No one takes the absurdity seriously. That’s not to say, as we know when it comes to Palin, support always makes the difference, so thank you 🙂 We’ve got a long way to go, and the good news is we’re taking this nation back. Thanks for being here 🙂

Confirming: I am doing a special live Mystery Science Theatre 3000 show covering the Urkel SOTU Concert Tuesday evening. The TAM Chatroom will also be open. The live show will be public and streamed on TSL, and a podcast for TAMs of the program will be available afterward. More on Monday regarding timing of the event.

And now tonight’s linkage:

When I texted my friend Johnny Phillips that tonight was Olbermann’s last show, he sent back, “I guess the Countdown got to zero.” Indeed. Lawrence O’Donnell is taking over the time slot.

What great news. I’m seriously considering going off the wagon. Damn! You can’t start a weekend any better than with the news that old Bathtub Boy has been given the axe at MSNBC. At least Olby’s departure opens up an employment opportunity for Alan Grayson. Now if only Scratch Scarborough and “Old Drooler” Matthews would follow Keithy to the unemployment line.

In case we need reminding, I thought this SNL skit on Olbermann, done by Ben Affleck, was deliciously hilarious, particularly since they were making fun of one of their own. I think this is fitting given the announcement that he’s been shown the door. Good riddance, though I imagine he’ll turn up somewhere else. Maybe he’ll join Bill Maher on HBO. It’s fitting as well that he’s being replaced by Lawrence O’Donnell, who is a self-identified socialist. An intelligent, capable guy, but an utter fool when talking about his own country.

Let’s see where Odormann lands (now that he’s out at MSDNC). He’ll probably end up with a talk show on HBO. They LOVE giving wingnuts a place to spew.

With respect to whether gas prices were too high, some may recall Obama’s pre-election (2008) comment endorsing a steady rise in gas prices.

Olbermann Leaves MSNBC? That’s the best news I’ve heard in a while. If the guy who gets a tingle down his leg when Obama talks–leaves, too, I’ll have a mini-celebration! And just remember GE CEO isn’t quitting his day job.

  9. TammyChicago says:

Olbermann: Well, turds tend to float so I fully expect him to rise again in that toilet bowl we call mainstream media. For now, the bowels of MSNBC are a little less impacted.

Don’t let the doorknob hit you on your over-inflated ego on the way out, Olbermann!
