Everyone must read this Financial Times article, which was linked by Drudge. It’s lays down some numbers about how America is going broke. This is chilling stuff, and I wish I could close my eyes and make it go away. But we must face it, because it’s not going to stop unless the cry of an indignant America becomes louder than the special interests and cronies.

One fragment, just to give you a taste of the problem:

According to a report issued last month by an 18-member bipartisan commission on fiscal responsibility, by 2025 tax revenues will be sufficient to finance only interest payments – which are projected to soar from their current $200bn a year to more than $1,000bn – and entitlement programs, with no room for anything else.

A trillion dollars a year to service the debt. The tax revenues of future generations will be dedicated entirely to paying the interest on the payoffs to Washington’s cronies today. The primary function of the American government will be to seize money from the American people and hand it over to the Communist government of China, and to the other coupon-clippers of the world.

This is going to happen because politicians of both parties are more afraid of the wrath of the special interests than they’re concerned about impoverishing your children. And if they ease up on pouring borrowed money into the trough, the mob will take to the street, as we’ve seen in Europe. So the politicians are going keep the money flowing until America is gone.

Wake up, America. If you can.
