    Former New York Mayor Ed Koch tweeted (and Tammy mentioned in her own tweets) on Palin. From twitter.com/mayoredkoch, editing four tweets into a line:

    Sarah Palin is smarter than critics who denounce her for defending herself from false charges that she contributed to forces causing the terrible shooting in AZ. Today most people, including the president, publicly acknowledge no connection. She has a right to defend herself. Denouncing the blood libel that her critics, primarily on the left, sought to pin her with is appropriate, & I’m Jewish & a liberal w/sanity. Sarah Palin is a plucky woman. Many resent that fact. Perhaps an indication of misogyny.

    Also, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach (pronounced “Bo-TAY-ock”) addressed the blood libel issue in this column.
