Re. doctors helping teachers lie about being “sick”
I found this in the AP. Looks suspicious to me:
What I take away from this is he’s basically admitting that the notes he was handing out were not legitimate, but that he didn’t care, because the employer doesn’t have a right to care one way or the other. It reminds me of the doctors I hear about who write “prescriptions” for people to buy medical marijuana. They don’t need a formal diagnosis. All they need is a claim of “pain” of some sort. “Stress” is a nice blanket medical term as well. I was told by my eye doctor a couple years ago, I guess in a tongue in cheek way, that a temporary vision impairment I went in about may have been caused by “stress”. He whispered to me though that “doctors claim ‘stress’ when they don’t know what’s wrong.” He referred me to another physician for a better diagnosis.
What I can’t figure out is why the doctors bothered to come out in the first place. Was it their sense of “solidarity,” or were they paid by the union like they were notary publics to legitimize their mass work action?

Obama and Dems rabble rousing in Wisconsin, more of the same but still unbelievable. These people are anti-American. The president of the United States has absolutely no business being involved in the budget affairs of any of the States. If there is violence before this business is over, Obama will be partly to blame. Eventually this guy will do something impeachable.
An OT fashion note — have done a little shopping for a dress for my son’s wedding in September. Informal daytime wedding so I don’t need 10 lbs. of sequins or a floor length dress. Every single dress on the racks in the store I just went to (Von Maur) was sleeveless. Thanks, Moochelle (not). I won’t be wearing sleeveless to a wedding.
Talk about suckers Rep maccaca is on Fox Business bashing Palin(alaska) and then asking people to vote for him because he’s sooooooo conservative! Mark Levin is really puzzeled by Ann Coulter’s speel about Chris Christy who is for gun control, obamacare, cap n tax, amnesty and more. Funny day today on the news since I still dont have twitter!!!! ackkkk
i am struck by how selfish people are- particularly those who profess to always be doing whatever mess they are doing for ‘ the children’, or ‘the workers’ or’ the poor’ or ‘ society’. amid the misspelled signs about gang banging fox news reporters and calling republicans hitler is there any mention of children and their needs? ( besides using them as props- absolutely shameless.) the children that leave high school unable to read and write. of course you deserve unlimited benefits and raises for turning out functional illiterates…
the whole doctor thing is shameful beyond belief. clearly so many are ready to throw the Hippocratic Oath( another fabulous pagan innovation- like democracy.) overboard to make way for the socialized Death n’ Medicine Complex r Us. to be part of the brave new world all one needs is to abandon all independent self directed thought and any vestige of character one may have managed to squirrel away despite all attempts to be robotized into submission by the many flawed institutions that blight the landscape. Ethics- what’s that?
if people are not telling you how evil you are for using a plastic bag or driving a car or not eating the right things they’re telling you what you have to believe and what you can do with your own body, with your own conscience. it’s all about power not truth. it’s all about controlling other people and no one is it seems above shredding the Constitution and the Bill of Rights for their own selfish purpose. the morality of herd animalization is what characterizes the lot- left and right- the metaphysics of the hangman, the antithesis of liberty, the voiding of the rule of law replaced with the rule of power over.
i really despair for the state we’re in and find more and more i trust no one.

You may be interested in a book that highlights your first paragraph, Thierry. It’s called ‘Intellectuals’ by Paul Johnson, one of the most respected historians of our time. I have several of his books – just brilliant!
Johnson beautifully highlights something very important in his book: how those who claim to be upholding a ’cause’ (be it for the poor, workers, children, etc.) are actually more focused or obsessed with the ’cause’ than the actual humanity involved. It’s the same thing with politicians today: they love to speak eloquently of a segment of the population whose ’cause’ they take up, but in the end, they have not only neglected the actual lives in pursuit of their ’cause’, they have made things much worse.
I share in your cynicism. It’s not something I feel all the time, but lately, there has been little to be excited about in terms of the world situation & what we’re witnessing domestically. When I start feeling overwhelmed, I am reminded (often!) that God is there. Not trying to impose my faith onto you; just want you to know there is hope – and it’s not the false hope promised by the politically elite or self-proclaimed ‘intellectuals’ ; ) Hope you don’t mind me sharing that with you.

i wonder at this presumption that i do not have a religion. i do. it’s not my religion, my faith or my god that is failing me. it’s my faith in humanity being able to use reason that’s come into question and my faith that rational people can rise above and actually embrace the founding articles in the same spirit in which they were so carefully written by careful, thoughtful men.
i am not insulted or consider what you say an infringement of any sort- you are being thoughtful and kind. my soul is well attended though and i am quite content with my personal religious beliefs. i never doubt She is there. my doubts are all about humans.
and i scarcely see how these clowns holding up signs that spell ‘ our’ ‘ ‘are’ can be said to be intellectuals. political posturing has nothing to do with intellect- both side use it and abuse it. the religious can negate the humanity of others too for the exact same reasons out lined so for me there is often little difference between the ’cause’ of most of the left and the ‘ cause’ of many organized religions. it’s the forcing of one’s convictions on others that’s so objectionable . freedom of conscience is what all our freedoms are based upon. seeing that shredded is heartbreaking.
