From the transcript of Obama’s budget speech, copied on the White House website: “The budget I’m proposing today…puts us on a path to pay for what we spend by the middle of the decade.”
There’s no point in editorializing. The president is mouthing another big lie. The lie is so blatant and so obvious that decent people get confused and figure there must be some misunderstanding. “How could he say things like this in a prepared speech if it weren’t true?”, we think. “That wouldn’t make any sense. So it must somehow be true, even if we don’t understand how.” Some of us will continue to ponder this paradox even as we march off the cliff.
The chart on the White House website highlights the president’s lies:
Projected Receipts & Outlays 2010 – 2021
|
|
|
|
| 2010 | $2,163 Billion | $3,456 Billion | $1,293 Billion |
| 2011 | $2,174 Billion | $3,819 Billion | $1,645 Billion |
| 2012 | $2,627 Billion | $3,729 Billion | $1,101 Billion |
| 2013 | $3,003 Billion | $3,771 Billion | $768 Billion |
| 2014 | $3,333 Billion | $3,977 Billion | $645 Billion |
| 2015 | $3,583 Billion | $4,190 Billion | $607 Billion |
| 2016 | $3,819 Billion | $4,468 Billion | $649 Billion |
| 2017 | $4,042 Billion | $4,669 Billion | $627 Billion |
| 2018 | $4,257 Billion | $4,876 Billion | $619 Billion |
| 2019 | $4,473 Billion | $5,154 Billion | $681 Billion |
| 2020 | $4,686 Billion | $5,422 Billion | $735 Billion |
| 2021 | $4,923 Billion | $5,697 Billion | $774 Billion |
I assume the reality will ultimately show these projections to have been overly optimistic. The aging baby boomers have already pushed Social Security into the red, and the costs of Social Security and Medicare will skyrocket in the coming years.
Please, can we at least talk about these things honestly and seriously? Our lives depend on it.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” And so HERE WE ARE. Being told, to our faces, the Biggest Lie by the Biggest Fraud in American Political History. In my opinion.
Tammy’s going to have to stop saying Urkel has his face up his ass. Clearly he’s got his head, neck, and shoulders way up in there, and there’s probably still room for his upper torso.
The ultimate line goes something like, “So-and-so has his head stuck so far up his arse that he can see out his mouth.”
The budget projection software might need some testing. It would be interesting to see a projection of 2000 to 2010 compared to the actual numbers. The president did not sound confident.
The budget projection of 2000 shows a surplus. This was used to to justify the Bush tax cuts. John McCain didn’t support the Bush tax cats out of concern that something like this might happen, and subsequent events have validated McCain’s foresight (I give McCain more credit than some people do; tax cuts must be considered as part of the big picture). Bush deserves a big share of the blame for this mess. If Obama’s change was actually solving the problem, I’d be applauding him on this point. But he’s making it worse, and he’s going to finish us off if someone in Washington doesn’t stop him.
The House Republicans have no choice but to succeed here, not that I envy the position they are in. Imagine if you had to go up against a president who has redefined narcissism, who is wholly unreachable and unpersuadable on every conceivable intellectual level, and whose most memorable quotes are the gaffes. It’s going to make for a nasty budget process, and the GOP better understand that Barack and the Democrats don’t deserve any concessions, not a single one.
Everybody should know by now that Obama does not deal in reality. In fact, his conceputal faculties were educated OUT of him. So by him saying something, it automatically makes it true. I’m hoping the government is shut down. But because the republicans are so inept, they’ll give him concessions. If they had any balls, they would shout from the highest mountaintop about this outrageous budget. Obama is so out of touch with reality, he really thinks he can finance his pet high speed rail project. I’d really wish he’d stop promoting that. That should be a job for the private sector. But unfortunately, that’ll be taxed and regulated out of existence in the coming months and years.
Are we kidding? High speed rail, high speed Internet, and electric cars? Where is this guy from and where has he been for the last two years? In the Twilight Zone? Oooops! He’s been our Commander-in-Chief. How’s that “Hope & Change” working for ya?
