Gas prices skyrocket.

I think it’s been counterproductive to take a confrontational stand against the unions in Wisconsin. It’s time to reach across the aisle and seek common ground. We must acknowledge the fact that the Democrats hold all the cards. Progress cannot be made until they return to the capital. Therefore, as painful as it may be, our side must admit defeat and offer substantial compromises. Nothing must be off the table. Tax hikes may be necessary. We must agree to whatever it takes.

Once the Democrats are back at the capital and the necessary quorum forms, we tear up the agreements and pass whatever laws we were going to pass in the first place. Then we have the sheriff lock the Democrats in jail so they won’t flee again. They’ll be brought to the State House in chains whenever a quorum is needed. The rest of the time, they’ll stay in the cooler.

    Just my 2 cents.

I love what Gov. Walker has done, but I really can’t understand why everyone is so upset that the Democrats have left the state. Shouldn’t there be mass celebrations when Democrats leave any state? So legislation is at a standstill for a while (again I’m having trouble finding a downside)…we can wait. Let them throw their tantrums and dirty up other states. When they come back, they’ll have to bend. What, are they going to threaten to never come back? Can we get that in writing?

HAHAHAHA!!! It appears the link to the “Food CZAR Queen” has been removed by the Vail Press. “This is an invalid article or has been removed from our site.”
Maybe tonight was Cheeseburger and Fry Night…so they needed to hide the food intake!

Cum ad cenandum discubuimus, alius sputa deterget, alius reliquias temulentorum [toro] subditus colligit.( “When we recline at a banquet, one [slave] wipes up the spittle; another, situated beneath [the table], collects the leavings of the drunks.” )-seneca

and one pampered serf makes the pies for the Hole while other slaves have the taxes beat out of them to fund the regal trappings.

there actually were no rooms specifically for vomiting in rome- although they did indeed indulge in puking so they could further gorge themselves. a vomitorium was a passageway in a theatre that allowed the quick passage of people in and out of the arena- especially designed so so they could be ‘ vomited’ back out of the street quickly.

when is It going to be vomited out of the White House? i just can’t stand it anymore.

“Freedom is not a reward or a decoration that is celebrated with champagne. Nor yet a gift, a box of dainties designed to make you lick your chops. Oh, no! It’s a chore, on the contrary, and a long-distance race, quite solitary and very exhausting.” albert camus

apparently the presidency of the united states is however a box of dainties to be shoveled into only certain faces.

OMG this Scott Brown interview is all over the place!! I think he is REALLY CONFUSED and sedated. I am a Republican, not a tea partier, he didn’t say he was??? oh now he loves Reagan and Obama. Here we go…..we need to bring down the debt while he voted with Obama several times. Well all righty then. He looks overwhelmed.

  11. GiMiller says:

I agree with you Tammy! Faye’s best work was Bonnie and Clyde and Network. I also liked Chinatown. Just hate the fact that the child molester directed it.

  12. Joel267 says:

What if one of the Republicans switched parties and became a Democrat. Then they’d have their bipartisan state senate and could hold a vote. It’s a win win because then they’d also have bipartisan support for the bill….because isn’t that whats key with todays new civil tone!
AND….. think of all the legislation they could get passed by the time the remaining Democrats checked out of their hotels and got back to Wisconsin!

Don’t miss this short video clip (tweeted by Tammy) of an interchange between Allen West and a CAIR executive.

In modern American public discourse, it seems that equivocation is the mode of speaking of “reasonable” people, whereas fools and lunatics are blaringly outspoken. It’s so refreshing to hear a clear, unapologetic voice of moral clarity. A voice such as this can awaken the nation.

    • eMVeeH says:

Awesome vid. It was great how Col. West enumerated Muslim-initiated attacks over the centuries. And yet historical Muslim aggression did not keep West from defending the rights of Muslims when he served in Afghanistan and Iraq. “Don’t blow sunshine…” indeed!

    • ancientwrrior says:

Hooaaahh Col. Finally a man who won’t pussy foot around and calls it like it is. I’m so tired of all the fools who tip toe around using perfumed language so as not to OFFEND anyone (bull crap). If something stinks, say so. Way to go Col. West, way to-go.

    • 1ntbtn says:

Thank you Maynard for the video clip. I heard the exchange on Tammy’s show, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

  14. tamcat says:

Tammy the Wisconsin theatrics were great today on your show. Thanks for the stats on wages of teachers and military & percentages the teachers pay for their benefits. AND how much the tax payer pays for teachers salary.

  15. morecowbell says:

Those who can’t do, teach.. those who can’t teach, protest

  16. Artgal says:

I agree with everyone regarding the WI strike and am outraged (but not surprised!) by the threats and behavior of the striking teachers and others, but please do not confuse good teachers with the demented educrats who need to be fired. The good ones are not on our tv screens; they have been at work and are not griping about their lot in life.

Every state has different requirements and payscales for public school teachers. What is a shame in the public school system (and even in some charter schools) is that a teacher’s wage is based on tenure – not on performance. The longer a teacher remains within the public school system, the more money they will receive. It’s not like a raise you get yearly based on your performance & show of loyalty to a company over time; it’s simply all across the board for all public school teachers within each state. Really, it is outrageous that truly terrible teachers can remain in a classroom the same amount of time as a good teacher and make the same amount of money.

Just as nutty: a first year teacher, who may be wonderful at what he/she does, will be the first person considered for a pink slip when the district makes cuts – not the tenured radical teacher who can’t spell. Sure, some situations will get some teachers fired sooner than not, but for the most part, they will remain untouchable.

I would like to see all teachers paid based on performance and quite frankly, I’d like to see taxpayers who do not have children or who send their kids to schools outside the public school system spared from paying for public education at all. I’d prefer to see more schools privatized – doesn’t mean it has to be ‘religious’, but means more parental control & involvement, more accountability, less district personnel, red tape, eliminating of irrelevant staff and only good teachers teaching! You do not see private school teachers behaving as public school teachers in WI – and they do not get the same perks and pay by far.

It’s easy to be dismissive of someone who ‘only works 9 months out of the year’ (as I’ve heard so often – not in this thread). I used to be one of those people making that comment – and then I found out what it takes!

There are countless hours spent after school, on weekends and during the summer where teachers have to fulfill state required classes, workshops, meetings, etc. During the school year, I cannot begin to add up all the hours spent in the school until nearly 10pm grading the day’s work from 117 kids, working on lesson plans, rubrics and weekly reports, or washing clothes for a student’s family who didn’t have money. The school counselor (an absolute angel) would bring students to her office and let them pick out the ‘new’ used clothes donated from churches or local charities.

Many times, I stayed to make phone calls only to find more numbers than not were disconnected, or I would be working on something waiting to meet with parents I did get a hold of during the week, and they never came in or called. Sometimes, my meetings were with social workers and law enforcement regarding parole, foster care or having to report genuine abuse cases. But hey, it’s all in a day’s work, right? Well, it’s work that stays with you long after you lock the classroom door.

The decision to go into education was made because I felt there was something I could offer kids – mainly because I indeed ‘can do’ something professionally and ‘can teach’ at the same time. Little did I know that my work would go well beyond teaching and include hospital visits, buying groceries for students, getting shoe donations, even assisting in breaking up a fist fight in the main lobby between mothers of two different students, attending funerals of students who were murdered and more. Who could have ever imagined teaching would come to this?

So when I see the line: ‘Those who can’t do, teach…’ allow me to remind you that the first teacher a child will be introduced to is their parent(s). Some parents ‘can’t do’. When that parent fails to provide for, protect and teach right & wrong to their child(ren), guess where they are going to learn it? The next adult who is placed in their path.

You better hope it’s me teaching those children!
