There are no limits to treachery in government, however, I find it hard to believe that Michelle Bachmann has cut a deal with the GOP leadership to be a stalking horse for Palin. Look at how those wimpy bastards are coming down on the tea party representatives that actually took a stand for the people by opposing the CR.

    From Redstate today:

We ask members of congress to stand for their convictions and, when they do, they are often berated and attacked by their own side.

In the past 24 hours there have been numerous stories planted by House Republican leaders attacking their conservative colleagues and spinning blame onto them for voting against the three week continuing resolution.

One article says they only did it because they are running for higher office and have to suck up to the base.

Another says they did it because they lack bold vision.

Another says the conservatives are undermining the fight for actual spending cuts (!!!) and somehow, somehow, conservatives will now be stuck with a worse deal.

The blame game by a Republican leadership that sprinkles toilet water behind their ears before flushing because they love the smell of their own B.S. knows no bounds.

But fifty-four House Republicans were willing to take a bullet from their leadership and stand up for their principles:

Bachmann is hardly existing to ruin Palin’s plans for the White House. I love Tammy, but there’s nothing other than her own assumptions concerning Bachmann.

Sorry Tammy; I’m a huge supporter (and paying good money) of Palin and will definitely vote for her for President, however I simply cannot follow you down a path of attacks on Bachmann. Christie, yes; give him Hell. Bachmann not so much. Believe what you will, but not everyone besides Palin who may possibly someday run for President is bad by default.

As a person who believes in you enough to hand over what little money I can every month to enjoy your commentary I find this trend wearing a little thin. Send me something, anything, that proves Bachmann is working to pull support away from Palin and (as disappointed as I would be) I will come right back here and respectfully post that I’m wrong.

    • Person123 says:

I have contributed to Bachmann in the past, but I am not happy about her considering a run for President. She does not have the credentials that Palin has and she is every bit as controversial. I keep seeing Bachmann supporters claim that she is the most conservative person in any room, and her supporters keep using her as a stick to break Palin’s back.
If Bachmann runs against Palin I questions her motives. Bachmann must know that both her and Palin in the primary will result in the likes of Romney winning. Bachmann must also know that her executive experience will be a factor; therefore, a Bachmann run will be caused by an overly inflated ego, or an alternative motive. Bachmann is not holding an insignificant position; she should retain her position.

      • Cary says:

You’re right Bachmann doesn’t have the credentials Palin does, which is why I would vote for Palin. She is the most qualified by far. She was the most qualified candidate in 2008 as well… that includes McCain and all the other Democrats and Republicans running in the primaries.

If Romney becomes the nominee in 2012 it won’t be Bachmann’s fault but our own as primary voters. Regardless of who else is running in the primary, and regardless of all the political spin and assumptions by pundits, it’s those voters participating in the primaries who give the GOP their nominee. Take 2008 for example. I don’t blame Huckabee; I blame all the terribly misguided people who decided to throw their support behind that sort of bigot in the first place. Of course at the time I didn’t know McCain would pick Palin as his running mate either, so it turned out I didn’t have to get drunk and vote for a nitwit.

Bachmann supporters voicing their support for Bachmann is not attack on Palin. They’re wrong of course, but that hardly means Bachmann is out to get Palin. Bachmann “supporters” and Bachmann’s staff are two totally different things. I’m sure there’s Palin supporters out there who I would prefer simply not speak.

If Bachmann’s staff is out there making idiotic statements about Palin they should probably think twice. One; Palin can take care of herself and doesn’t need us or anyone else to respond to every little ridiculous thing an opponent says. That’s character and strength, and that’s why I support Sarah. Two; attacks on Palin only strengthen the resolve of Palin supporters and gain her sympathy from independents.

What comes off as weak to me is hearing fellow Palin supporters complain about every conservative in the country not running to the nearest television camera to defend her against the latest assault from the assorted progressives, Communists, and fascists who really are out to get her. Take a page from Palin, which is always a good idea in any situation, and lets pick our battles intelligently… and with facts to back-up our arguments.

        • Tammy says:

While I agree re the fact that Palin can take whatever the freakish world wants to throw at her, I do think the Tucson attacks on Palin, the extraordinary accusation that she was responsible for mass murder, was outrageous enough that it required a defense from other responsible individuals. That was a Hail Mary Pass in the effort to destroy Palin *and* Tea Party. I’ve remarked on this several times, without expectation that others defend Palin in any other framework. The Tucson attack, though, that is the most basic dynamic which exposed the willingness of others to watch an innocent individual suffer an accusation that put her and her family at dire risk. I’m the first one who understands politics is a dirty game, but if we think we’re going to change the crap that goes on in Washington we have got to have the most basic of standards to apply to those who would deign to control this nation and our futures–and that’s having the common decency to know when to say enough is enough.

Simple answers: 1) Term limits. 2) Lobby REFORM. As per the Donald Trump, the strongest and most numerous lobbies belong to ARABIC interests, such that AMERICAN lobby interests have little chance of gaining influence. And we wonder why our dependance on foreign oil has doubled (to over 60%) since the early ’70′s…despite the creation of the dept. of energy.
