Heard your comment today about occasionally going to the Catholic church with friends and how the Catholic church today is OK with “having a personal relationship with Jesus”…with all due respect, that may be the case in your friend’s church, but as one who comes from the Catholic tradition…first grade through college degree, I think it does not apply to the rest of the country. Gallup’s website shows the breakdown of Catholics state by state (data from 2009) and guess where the largest numbers are? Yep, New York and all of New England. Hmmm…what makes that area remarkable? We all know…solid blue in voting. In my opinion, there is a tremendous disconnect in Catholicism. As long as you go to Mass on Sunday and holy days, and bless yourself the right way and kneel and stand at the right time during the Mass, that’s about all you need to do. Don’t ever miss Mass, but you can vote for libs and all they stand for. Talk about hypocrisy at its finest.
