**Bumped up**
UPDATE Friday: Here’s a great collection of pics from the wedding. It was as beautiful as everyone had hoped for and it’s such a joy to see Diana’s son begin a marriage so obviously based in love and respect.

Yes, I’m excited, and I know you’ll humor me :) For those of us who were Diana’s age and watched her wedding to Charles only to see such horrible things unfold, I suppose interest in this wedding is like hoping for a second chance. As most of you know I also appreciate tradition and history, so a royal wedding in the 1000 year-old Westminster Abbey is something to watch :) The wedding starts at 4am ET tomorrow, April 29.
So, here’s a post which will be updated throughout the day with Wills and Kate linkage, and includes the official Royal Wedding Portrait! Also consider this your Open Thread for all things Royal Wedding.

I remember getting up and watching the wedding of Charles and Diana when I was in high school. I will be up early tomorrow to watch William and Catherine. I want to see the dress :)
Just think if this was the 16th century……”OBEY your King, upstart commoner, or off to the Tower with you!”
Though my excitement is very much dampened because of what’s happened in the South, I’m still going to watch and hope the best for them.
30 years ago….Prince Charles and Princess Diana invited then President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy to their 1981 ceremony – though Nancy went alone because the President was too ill to travel following the assassination attempt on him.

I predict utter disaster for this couple in the future. The royal tradition must be ended. Having said that I hope Tammy really enjoys the wedding. : )
William is going bald. In a few years, he’ll only have hair on the sides of his head.
LOL! Ru, thanks for the pic. That made me smile.
They seem to be a solid couple who have known eachother for many years. I will be watching as I can tomorrow — it is nice to see Kate, who is genuinely stylish (as opposed to having MO thrust on as a style icon). I will check back here for opinions on the bridal gown — I can’t wait to see it.
Random thoughts (to pirate Maynard) on the Brit Wedding:
1) Seems like a cool couple.
2) ‘think the Queen Mum likes this one.
3) Katherine is not a blonde, yea.
4) Love the costumes, the carriages, the horses…
5)…but won’t waste time watching the bourgeois spectacle.
6) Would prefer to spend my leisure time watching one of Wm’s polo matches.
7) They say Harry may not be Charles offspring…more likely Ronald McDonald’s; a
Scot?
I think that perhaps Kate will be spared the life Diana had as a royal. Remember why the queen did not like Diana. One of the main reasons is she behaved like a commoner. That included living a life showering her kids with her affection..very unconventional at that time for a royal. Riding an amusement park ride with them? Greeting them with open arms and a smile from ear to ear? P’shaw, the stuff of commoners. William knew the love of his mother before he knew he was a prince. He knew love and dedication first. William would not be with Kate for so many years if he was not dedicated to her. He is NOTHING like his father and very much like his mother. I do think William would stand up to the crown for any reason he felt worthy, oh say, perhaps his marriage…and his father most certainly did not.
Good luck, Will and Kate.
your post is why I do not like the royal family. They are a bunch of stuff shirts. It is riduculous. I am not just saying this to make waves. If someone wants to explain to me why the royal family and british monarchy is great have at it. I will listen. Hopefully Tammy can explain it in a podcast.
Dude, British Monarchy. That says it all. CENTURIES of tradition. Stuffed shirts.. well, of course, lad. CENTURIES of tradition. However, it seems even the monarchy has allowed a commoner to potentially be a princess. Times have changed indeed. If only Diana were so lucky. And how lucky are we colonialists, us Americans, that we don’t HAVE to get it, eh?
I watched this morning and loved it! Found it very beautiful and moving. I don’t see it as being a stuffed shirt at all. Frankly, I wish we all would behave a little more like royalty. Protocol, manners, discipline, poise, reticence…sure beats what see in the grocery store any day of the week. Of course I’m not saying they’re perfect (Charles) but it doesn’t diminish what they represent.
I don’t mind a good monarchy because the Bible teaches us Christians that we ARE royalty belonging to the Royal Family of God, serving Christ the King of Kings, and that we should carry ourselves as such.
I’m just posting in this thread because I was ‘told’ to ignore if I didn’t have an interest. I have no interest. (The rebel in me!) ;) Hey! Jst having fun! So there. I posted! For fellow ‘TAMS’ who r ‘jonesing’ for this wedding…Enjoy! Peace. :) Don’t hate me.
I wish them well and hope they have a wonderful life together and have healthy children, which is no different than I’d say for any couple gettin’ hitched in these uncertain times.

So exciting. It’s so nice to have a slice of beauty and romance vis-a-vis our Western civilization in our Islam and Obama stained world. I want to OD on it because I’m worried that “The Stain” might curse the shuttle launch tomorrow. (Lord, have mercy.)
I truly had no plans to watch the Royal Wedding. It just so happens I’m wide awake & it’s on. Have to say it’s lovely – beautiful couple, beautiful music. It brought back memories of my cousin and me staying up all night when we were 15 to watch Prince Charles and Lady Diana get married in 1981.
This is a nice way to try forgetting about some activity in AZ…
Very Upset. When did Joan Lunden get so old. Also, disappointed I was not not appointed the Duke of Cambridge.
HOLY COW… Kate is hot.. she is much more attractive than Diana
Kate can be duchess, baroness, princess, queen, whatever she wants in my book. She’s beautiful and looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown.
How about the “Duke of Earl”?
Kate looked absolutely lovely – the “what were you thinking award” for wedding outfits goes to Fergie’s 2 daughters – Beatrice and Eugenie – a good friend of mine commented on Facebook “what’s with the Who-ville hats?” LOL
The Fergie girls had Lady GaGa as their stylist…just saying.
The bride was beautiful — the gown was a stylish and elegant as I thought it would be. Kate looked poised, confident, and (dare I say it)…regal. William looked so happy, too.
I was also happy to hear one of the British pundits say some sympathetic words to Alabama. It’s nice to know the Once hasn’t totally mucked-up Anglo-American relations.
As usual I got up real early this morning (CA PST) and the wedding was already underway — on just about every other channel I turned to! It really was full of atmosphere, pomp and circumstance as only the British can provide. Very colorful, and the overall good feelings that abounded cheered me that it was turning out well for the royals. The massive crowds were exemplary in their behaviour, which also made me glad, and proud actually.
But I wasn’t expecting to be emotionally overcome by such spectacle, and so I was taken by surprise when the newlyweds, both attractive people (especially Kate) appeared on the balcony and kissed before the adoring crowd. As they kissed, the roar of the crowd in response stirred something in me, that spread over me causing tears to form in my eyes and intense feelings of pride, love and connection somehow, as if I was back among a similar crowd in medieval times cheering my sovereign with my fellow countrymen. I wasn’t expecting that rush of emotion — perhaps because I have ancestors from the the British Isles, and the collective spiritual energy touched even me inside. Who knows?
But I think the Brits can feel proud about how well it turned out, and how for a brief moment, many people worldwide shared the feelings of grandeur, history, tradition, connection and pride that the wedding showcased. Jolly good show!
I wasn’t into the whole thing but being plagued by insomnia I watched and I’m so glad I did!!! She was so beautiful….and he was the handsome prince….it, was, so romantic!! To me it all clicked to what is good and dignified in the world. I even noticed how clean the streets were, weird, I know. Everyone looked so happy and relaxed not like his mothers wedding, she looked like a dear in the headlights, sad. So glad I watched!! I loved her dress, so classy and modest and simple, BEAUTIFUL!!! Loved the red jacket Wills wore and Harry so handsome. It was so lovely……I will pray for them to have a long, happy life together, forever!!!
Caught about a half hour of the wedding while having my morning tea. Very lovely. Kate seems very down to earth. I wish them the best :)
