If You Can’t Beat ‘Em…
by Maynard on June 29, 2011A post by Maynard We cover a lot of turf here, big stuff and small. But it seems to me there’s nothing bigger (or should I say, more important) than the debt. That’s the self-inflicted wound that’s going to do us in first. Soon enough our tax payments won’t even pay the interest on what we borrowed yesterday. Aside from the practical impossibility of servicing endless trillions of dollars, there’s an overwhelming moral objection to the deficit. It’s our responsibility to give the next generation a clean start. Instead we’re selling them into servitude to pay for today’s cronies and boondoggles. And the people doing this argue that they’re acting under a moral imperative. The claim is absurd beyond belief....

The Latest from Tammy in Pella
by Tammy on June 28, 2011Here in Pella, the US largest running windmill :) UPDATE Tuesday 6-28: A Tammy Special Report from Pella has posted :) Click here for the direct link. All went well when it came to getting me to Pella, Iowa for the premiere of “Undefeated,” but things didn’t go so well for my bag. It’s 2:30am here and the airline just delivered it to me. As I barely made my connection in Dallas earlier today for Des Moines, my suitcase didn’t. So, while I carried on my Tammy Radio gear case (the first one was stolen last year as checked baggage), the cables all went into my suitcase. This made it impossible to do any podcast at all as I had...

Do You Want Joe Biden With That?
by Pat_S on June 27, 2011It’s pretty clear America lost its appetite for The One. Fundraisers are having a hard time selling tickets to win a dinner with Obama. They hope including the Vice President at the dinner table will perk up the response. Obama revives Bidenism in fundraising push The campaign had previously sought to lure donors by entering them in a raffle to have dinner with the president. But if that wasn’t enough of a draw for some on-the-fence supporters, the campaign has now added Vice President Biden’s name to the attendee list. “We are setting another place at the table for Joe Biden,” Obama announced in web video. “To use one of his favorite expressions, that’s a big deal.” I suppose it...

Travel Update/Monday Open Thread
by Tammy on June 27, 2011Okay everyone I’m off to Pella, IA for the premiere of “Undefeated.” This means I’ll be out of the loop most of the morning and afternoon. There will no doubt be news today so if you TAMs could keep each other posted here in this Open Thread that would be great. The “no links” rule is suspended for this thread considering the unique circumstances :) Due to my flying schedule there will be no Tammy Radio live today but I will have a Special Report podcast update tonight when I settle in Pella. As I’ve mentioned, while the live show will depend on bandwith in Pella, I will have a series of Special Report podcasts for TAMs and I’m sure...

Your History Fix for the Day
by Tammy on June 26, 2011Gangsters and Romans and Marilyn, Oh my! Christie’s expecting six-figure bid for Al Capone’s revolver …Christie’s, the world-famous auction house, is selling Capone’s .38 special, a “police-positive” Colt nickel-plated, six-shot double-action revolver. It also has a handsome checkered walnut grip. Christie’s expects the winning bidder to cough up between $80,600 and $112,840. Hardly an offer you can’t refuse. A similar firearm sans the Scarface pedigree would run you a few hundred dollars. The auction listing for the Brooklyn-born mob boss’s pistol says that Madeleine Capone Morichetti, wife of Capone’s brother, Ralph, explained in a 1976 letter to Edmund Koeski that Ralph “Bottles” Capone wanted Koeski to have the gun upon Bottles’ death. The letter further described the weapon as “a...

Sen. Mark Kirk Asks FAA To Investigate Delta Deal with Saudi Airlines
by Tammy on June 24, 2011Looks like the Republican who took Obama’s senate seat isn’t impressed with Delta’s response to the brouhaha over their new code-sharing deal with Jew-hating, gay-hating and woman-hating Saudi Arabia. Sen. Kirk wants FAA to investigate alleged religious discrimination by Delta Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk (R) called Friday for the Federal Aviation Administration to investigate allegations Delta Airlines blocked Jewish passengers from flying as part of an agreement with a Saudi Arabian airline. USA Today reported Thursday on rumors circulating Internet that as part of Saudi Arabian Airlines’s agreement to join Delta’s SkyTeam alliance, Delta would enforce a Saudi ban on passengers from Israel and non-Islamic religious artifacts. Delta denied the accusation, saying it had a nondiscrimination policy, but Kirk still...
