Obama Keeps a Promise! Electricity Rates “Necessarily Skyrocketing”
by Tammy on June 14, 2011As pledged by Obama in 2008 (hey, he was honest!) electricity rates are going to skyrocket and coal plants are closing. So many villas to set on fire, so little time. Consumers’ electric bills likely to spike as coal plants close Consumers could see their electricity bills jump an estimated 40 to 60 percent in the next few years. The reason: Pending environmental regulations will make coal-fired generating plants, which produce about half the nation’s electricity, more expensive to operate. Many are expected to be shuttered. The increases are expected to begin to appear in 2014, and policymakers already are scrambling to find cheap and reliable alternative power sources. If they are unsuccessful, consumers can expect further increases as more...

My Column at Big Government Has Posted
by Tammy on June 14, 2011Would be honored for you to take a look at my column Why Sarah Palin Must Run in 2012. After the debate last night I think it is an especially important argument. Here’s an excerpt: One of the prevailing debates in the GOP these days (if not the only one) is whether or not Governor Sarah Palin will, or should, run for president. Not only should she, she must if the GOP has any hope of having a legitimate nominee whom everyone can support for the 2012 election. Why? Without Palin in the race a massive segment of the GOP base—Tea Party patriots and other independent conservatives—will find themselves once again with the prospect of choosing from a manipulated field...

Chris Wallace Grills A Pawlenty Kabob
by Pat_S on June 12, 2011Chris Wallace skewered Tim Pawlenty today. Pawlenty has a “Better Deal” plan to grow GDP by 5% per year for ten years. Oh wait, it isn’t a plan, it’s an aspiration. Pawlenty is trying to tap into the Tea Party mood of faith in America. Set a bold goal, unleash creative forces and the sky’s the limit. That’s an admirable attitude but even if motivation was the same as leadership, Pawlenty is not a motivator. I give Pawlenty credit for doing more than flag waving and Obama bashing. He hits the right notes in general. His proposal also includes deep cuts in tax rates and slashing government spending. Then he goes over into fantasy land saying he’ll ask for temporary...

Guilty! France Not Doing Enough to Protect Its Hamsters
by Pat_S on June 11, 2011Another case of absurd environmentalism. “Harmful crops” and “unchecked urbanization” are bad for the feral hamsters of Alsace. This is the recent judgment of the European Court of Justice on a case brought by the European Commission three years ago. France will face daily fines if it doesn’t adjust its agriculture to accommodate the creature—considered a farmland pest–all 800 of them. Court Rules France Not Doing Enough to Protect Its Hamsters Much like mice, they live a very fragile existence, always on the lookout for predators. Now, that predator has come in the form of the French, who are driving them toward extinction. Ruling on a case brought by the European Commission three years ago, the European Court of Justice...

The ‘Ethnic Studies’ Curriculum Disaster in Arizona
by Artgal on June 10, 2011The wildfires raging in Arizona aren’t the only catastrophe the state is facing. When Americans are drawn together to simply do the right thing, we accomplish the extraordinary for the good of the nation’s survival. Nothing could demonstrate this better than the hard work of many over the last four years to expose the disturbing curriculum and activities surrounding Ethnic Studies in the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD). For those unfamiliar with the subject, Ethnic Studies is offered as a course throughout many schools in the country. It encourages students to identify as a hyphenated-American (Mexican-American, African-American, Asian-American, etc.) instead of simply being an American. Though not all Ethnic Studies programs entertain anti-U.S. sentiment and overthrow, the potential for such activity to...
