Weiner Tells House Leaders He’ll Resign
WASHINGTON — Representative Anthony D. Weiner has told House leaders that he plans to resign his seat after coming under growing pressure from his Democratic colleagues to leave the House, said a top Democratic official and two people told of Mr. Weiner’s plans.
His decision follows revelations of his lewd online exchanges with women.
The top Democratic official said Mr. Weiner called Representative Nancy Pelosi of California and Representative Steve Israel of New York last night while they were at the White House picnic to inform them he had decided to resign on Thursday.

You know, this all has been rather familiar to me. Belligerence, random exhibitionism, blaming other people for your mistakes, lying to try to stay out of trouble, not knowing when to shut up — I’ve been dealing with all of these things at home recently. But, oh, wait … it’s my FOUR-YEAR-OLD child who’s doing those things. And he’s showing a far greater capacity for shame and self-correction than the aptly-monikered Mr. Weiner — not to mention his being about a bajillion times cuter, nicer, smarter, and more helpful than the erstwhile congressman.
