Would You Buy Used Clothes From This Man?
by Pat_S on October 9, 2011Someone should look into a crony capitalism connection between Herman Cain and the needle and thread industry. Explaining the sales tax portion of his 9-9-9 plan on CNN, Mr. Cain pointed out detractors of his plan were assuming people would be buying new things. That’s where their analysis is flawed, he said. Crowley: You would make an exemption for food and clothing? Cain: No. No exemptions. You don’t need those exemptions. Crowley: A poor person is paying the same amount of tax on groceries as I would. Does that sound fair? Cain: Yes, because of the other point I’m about to make. If they need a car or home or other hard goods that are used they pay no taxes....

California Now Allows College Aid to Illegal Aliens
by Tammy on October 8, 2011I have got to get out of here. Just the economic disaster of this is mindboggling. In other words, there is no freaking money! California Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday signed a bill giving illegal immigrant college students access to state-funded financial aid, the second half of two-part legislation known as the “Dream Act.” The controversial measure, which passed the Democrat-controlled legislature on a party-line vote in September, represents a victory for immigrant-rights activists ahead of the 2012 presidential election. California is the nation’s most populous state. Only two other...

Farmers Market Sells Tainted Food In Front of USDA HQ
by Pat_S on October 8, 2011A News21 student-led investigation discovered tainted food was sold at a USDA sponsored farmers market. In fact, the farmers market is located right in front of USDA headquarters in D.C. A few blocks away, near the White House, tainted chicken with campylobacter bacteria was being sold. This is the market Michelle Obama visited two years ago promoting her healthy eating campaign. USDA Farmers Market Sells Contaminated Food One of the probes focuses on the USDA’s weekly farmers market, a popular destination for government employees and tourists to shop for fresh produce, poultry and baked goods. The agency sponsors the event adjacent to its headquarters. It’s part of a government-wide effort, led by Michelle Obama, to promote healthy eating. In fact,...

Steve Jobs’ Moving Stanford Commencement Speech On Mortality
by Tammy on October 6, 2011The best 15 minutes you’ll spend. Moving and relevant as we all contemplate what the heck it is we’re doing and what makes our lives what they are. “…Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary…”
