Skirting Around Differences In Olympic Boxing
by Pat_S on November 23, 2011Women’s boxing will be part of the 2012 Olympics, an Olympic first. The Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) would like the ladies to wear skirts in the ring. The AIBA thinks wearing skirts will help distinguish female boxers from male boxers. Female boxers fight skirts ahead of Olympics AIBA has suggested that wearing skirts would help women stand out from the men. Female boxers from Poland and Romania donned skirts at last month’s European Championships in the Netherlands. I know there have been gender scandals in Olympic games but this is ridiculous. Has the AIBA made any recommendations about wearing tops? With or without would be another way to help the audience distinguish between male and female boxers.

Cow Tales: Magnetic Cow Controversy
by Pat_S on November 23, 2011Magnetoreception, the ability to detect changes in a magnetic field to perceive direction or altitude, has long been observed in many animals, most notably birds. It wasn’t until 2008 using Google Earth that a German-led team of scientists concluded cows might also be able to sense the Earth’s magnetic field. ‘Magnetic cows’ are visible from space. A Czech team of scientists was critical of the German teams’ findings. While it is good science to confirm hypotheses, apparently it can cause bad feelings. The Germans fired back that the Czechs included images taken of cows near power lines which would throw off the magnetic effect. Not only that, the stupid Czechs mistook sheep and haystacks as cows. The Czechs said no,...

How Bad Is It for the Obamas? Booed, Flipped Off and Told to Quit
by Tammy on November 22, 2011**This is a Lounge/Open Thread. Feel free to post links** How soon did the American people know they had been conned by the Obama election? The first sign of the awakening was July 2009 when this now iconic poster of Obama as the Joker first surfaced in Los Angeles (of all places!). This poster was the first glitch in the Obamas carefully managed stagecraft meant to make dissent and critique of Obama too dangerous to put forward. So, an anonymous poster that said it all was the first sign that Americans had already realized we had been duped. Now the dissent is not anonymous, more specific and damning. Ranging from Democratic pollsters, to the normally genuflecting MSM, to Americans at...

CIA Spies Caught, Fear Execution in Middle East
by Tammy on November 21, 2011An amazing debacle. Over a dozen agents are feared caught and killed. This doesn’t just happen. A CIA source says in this story that it’s all due to the incredibly great work of Hezbollah and Iran. Yeah, right. The other option is more probable–we screwed things up, or as serious–we have double agents in the CIA itself giving up what sounds like *every* agent we had in the Middle East. Gee, I wonder what Iran could be up to? /endsarcasm In a significant failure for the United States in the Mideast, more than a dozen spies working for the CIA in Iran and Lebanon have been caught and the U.S. government fears they will be or have been executed, according...
