Obama’s supporters have their answer: “Obama came to office in the wake of an unprecedented catastrophe. It takes time to turn that around. And, look!, it is indeed starting to turn around. Obama has taken us through the worst of it, and we’ll see things getting better and better from now on.”

It’s not impossible that Obama will ride a modest uptick in the economy to a second term.

Obama’s apologists are spinning a pile of trash, but there are some elements of truth. Yes, the problems we have cannot be fixed in a year or two. Yes, even if the president was doing everything perfectly, a solution would take time.

Here are what I see as the primary problems:

First, we got into the mess by running a massive imbalance. Huge national debt; huge trade deficit. Obviously unsustainable.

To save ourselves, we’d need to turn those fundamental factors around. Under Obama, they’ve only gotten worse. If you accept that those fundamental factors were responsible for the original crash, then it follows that we’re racing headlong into the next crash. Doesn’t matter whether unemployment ticks up a bit or ticks down a bit; it’s still a house of cards waiting to collapse.

In 2008, candidate Obama properly lambasted Bush for running up the debt and failing to address our true problems. Then Obama did exactly the same as Bush, only more of it. (It might even be said that this candidate for “change” was in fact more like Bush’s 3rd term.) His first act in office was basically to command that Washington borrow and spend a trillion dollars as fast as possible (and he used executive orders to direct as much as possible to his cronies). That, he said, would hold unemployment below 8%. Didn’t happen. He also pledged to halve the deficit he inherited by the end of his first term. Didn’t happen; the deficit is worse than ever.

The obvious fact is that Obama’s only trick is to borrow and spend. This does not end pleasantly.

We have a Marxist Islamist president who hates America and all she stands for. He is the talking *dick*head for the leftist/marxist God hating machine who wants to bring our great country to her knees. America is in a time unprecedented to any time in our history as far as what we have become compared to our conception as drafted by the founding fathers. Our foundation, God, has been replaced with false gods. A nation cannot exist when men become their own god and worship false idols. We are over the cliff. There is no turning back. It is a matter of if we are totaled or wrecked to the point of needing major repairs. Never have we been worse off.

      Perfectly stated! Brava!

    • Hey, that isn’t fair to d***heads.

Researched yesterday, the word, ‘Quislings’ (because Jonah Goldberg used it). And discovered it means traitor like Benedict Arnold.

Vidkun Quisling was the WWII collaborator with Nazi Germany leader of Norway (executed following the war). Anyway, he was a bright man who wrote corrections to a math book when he was a young teen and earned the British Order, Commander of the British Empire, for supporting Britain on an issue (or two).

Now to the point of this long story, the giveaway of his problem; he invented his own religion.

That’s what I see with today’s Democrat leadership. They worship their own religion. Be it environment (Gore), themselves (Obama), or press (Schumer).

Well, Alain41, as we say here in NYC: One of the most dangerous places in the U.S. — standing between Senator Chuck Schumer and a TV camera 🙂

Well, he did tell us back in 2008 that if the economy didn’t improve in his first four years we could call him “former president Obama.”

I am perfectly okay with that.

  6. IslandLibertarian says:

This goes way back to Johnson and The Great Society, Carter and the Community Reinvestment Act and every social engineering Liberal program since.
And “The Wizard of ZerOz” just kept repeating the insanity.

  7. Have I told you lately that I hate the Dumb Bastard?
Well darling I’m telling you now

Behind all of these numbers is an American, no matter if they voted for this President or not. What can’t be quantified is the collateral emotional and spritual damage being done to them and their families due to the deliberate, calculated master planning and social engineering by the unelected Overlords and their Masterminds in the Bureaucracy.

Dennis, thanks. We get caught up in this fight and sometimes forget that these numbers are real people whose lives have been destroyed. Very sad!!

Nineveh, history does repeat itself. When Jonah preached repentance, the people of Nineveh responded. When Nahum preached repentance a century later, Nineveh would not repent. Nineveh had destroyed Israel’s northern kingdom. There is SERIOUS stuff going on. TAMS, is it going to get more rocky than it is now. I am so glad to know you are here. I’m praying for true wisdom for all of us.

    • Maynard says:

Bingo. Madness stalks the land. It’s the Tower of Babel all over again. One nation over God. Yes, indeed, the word is “repent”.

The tale of Jonah is a strange one. Jonah did not want to see Nineveh saved. Hence his flight. But a reasonable person would have expected that the salvation of Nineveh was more than Jonah could accomplish even at his dedicated best. And yet it happened.

We must do our part. We have roles to play; roles that may or may not be pivotal in God’s plans. I can foresee possible scenarios, but our vision tends to be myopic. Just ask Jonah.

Considering we are using the measure of “How well we are doing” over a period of time baselined on an elected official, the argument we already live in a society managed by the Government becomes self-evident.

Just saying.. think about the quantification of freedom and the power that process has over thought.
