Yet still the idiots over at the increasingly irresponsible CNN continue to try and convict Zimmerman in the media. Just this morning they had a voice-identification expert on armed with a computer comparison of Zimmerman’s voice and the screaming heard on the phone call — and the guy reckoned there is only a 48% chance it was Zimmerman screaming (based only on comparing the distant scream over the phone with Zimmerman’s voice from the 911 recording), and of course CNN bimbo Carol Costello runs with that implying something like “There it is folks, the expert’s voice analysis indicates it WASN’T Zimmerman screaming”. Guilty!

CNN is a disgustingly biased “news” organization. I think they perceive their main targeted audience is something like “young, urban multicultural”, and boy are they sticking with it. It is obvious they are backing and covering for the liar-in-chief, as one would expect in order to curry favor with their targeted viewership. I hope they go out of business sooner than everyone expects.

Somebody decided to run the tape with Zimmerman talking to 911. Somebody decided it needed to be shortened, for time contraints. Somebody had to do the actual editing. Somebody approved the final cut. Somebody decided it could be aired. NBC needs to follow the entire chain of somebodies and decide who was responsible for the deliberate bias and who was merely neglectful. NBC’s legal dept. is going to burning the midnight oil and heads should roll before this is done.
At ABC a simlar scenario played out, with similar results.
Both networks should take this as a wake-up call and revisit the standards they have in place. All it takes is one ideological underling who decides to try to slip something by and a supervisor who isn’t paying attention, and everyone can point fingers at others, but that won’t stop the lawsuits, and damage to the credibility of an organization.
Time to bring back the fact checkers, and copy editors of old who regardless of how they feel personally, put the integrity of the news their organization is reporting above all.
With the speed twitter provides, and all the new media sources, the false message sent out by ABC & NBC was quickly noted and the networks called out. It has taken them too long to respond and reveal their mistakes, but imagine if we didn’t have these new media sources. The bullies were pushing for lynch-mobs and riots, of the sort I recall from 1966 when cities burned and hooligans roamed the streets. They underestimated the people. Many of us have seen this all before. We objected then, but our voices couldn’t be heard. This time we had the tools and they couldn’t ignore us. The bullies tried to start a forest fire, they hoped the winds would fan it into a nationwide conflagration and overwhelm us. We fought back, and contained the damage. The bullies will try to create more flare-ups, but now we are alert. We’re onto their tricks and won’t be silent by-standers. We are learning how to push back against the bullies. We will be the first responders anytime they act up.

I will always miss him. But of course in this racially divided election year, his voiced will be missed all that much more. What a sad day March 1st was.
