According to a news conference this morning, 10 of the dead are still in the theatre. But that doesn’t stop Obama’s White House, liberals, and ABC from trying to score political points. Remember the leftist mantra–never let a good crisis go to waste! Here’s background and the latest on this obscene event, and the now usual depraved response by liberals.

Gunman attacks ‘Batman’ premiere in Colorado, 12 dead

A gunman in a gas mask and bullet-proof vest killed 12 people at a midnight premiere of the new “Batman” movie in a suburb of Denver early on Friday, sparking pandemonium when he hurled a gas canister into the auditorium and opened fire on moviegoers.

The attack injured 55 others including children during a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” at a mall in the suburb of Aurora, which turned into a chaotic scene of bleeding victims, horrified screams and pleas of “I’m hit, help me,” witnesses said.

The suspect also booby-trapped his Aurora apartment with sophisticated explosives, creating a hazard for law-enforcement and bomb squad officers who swarmed to the scene. Authorities evacuated five nearby buildings, and created a perimeter of several blocks.

Officers took the suspect into custody in the parking lot behind the cinema, where he surrendered without a fight, police said.

And how did ABC “reporter” Brian Ross handle this horrific news? As a great opportunity to blame…wait for it…Tea Party!

“Good Morning America” Attempts To Tie CO Shooter To Tea Party

George Stephanopolous: I’m going to go to Brian Ross. Brian, you’ve been looking at it, investigating the background of Jim Holmes. You found something that might be significant.

Brian Ross, ABC News: There’s a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado on the tea party site as well, talking about enjoying the Tea Party last year. We don’t know if this is the same Jim Holmes but it is Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado.

Stephanopolous: Okay, we’ll keep looking at that.

Even Gawker gets it right about this buffoon:

America’s Wrongest Reporter, ABC News’ Brian Ross, Demonstrates Yet Again How He Earned the Title

ABC eventually apologized, and Ross tweeted a little something. Not good enough. ABC should fire Brian Ross.

And Obama? He predictably makes it all about him:

In the meantime, the Obama White House decides this is a a great time to try to score political points on a pet agenda item–Gun Control. Via Beltway Confidential.

President Obama’s spokesman, asked about gun control laws in the immediate aftermath of the Colorado shooting, expressed the need for “common sense” measures that protect Americans and their freedom.

“I would say as you know the president believes we need to take common sense measures that protect the Second Amendment rights of Americans while ensuring that those who should not have guns under existing laws do not get them,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said during the press gaggle en route to the nation’s capitol. “We’re making progress in that regard in terms of improving the volume and quality of information on background checks but I have nothing additional on that for you. This is obviously a recent event.”

Those wanting to remove our 2nd amendment rights need to have it pointed out, that making bombs is illegal and in fact obtaining most bomb material is illegal. And none of those laws stopped him from obtaining material and making bombs. Control laws only control the law-abiding not the non-law-abiding.

Devastating scenario in the midst of a normal family friendly outing.Sadly,a happy gathering can’t always be safe from the evil that exists in Godless people. As to the liberal rants, shouldn’t we ask how he was able to get all these weapons and protection without permits etc.? They better hope it doesn’t lead to an Occupier or fast and furious.

As I put it on Twitter:
Funny how the same people desperately trying to connect the Aurora shooter to Conservatives never try to connect muslim terrorism to islam.

I sincerely hope the ‘wrong’ Jim Holmes SUES the network and maybe Brian Ross and George Stephanopoulas personally! WHY does no one do a damn thing about this sort of thing???? the right should raise the ROOF on this stuff!!! and not let it drop!!

I will never understand how that Clinton lackey, George Stephe-Stephanopolous, landed a job at ABC News, even for their low standards.

Does this really surprise anyone? It is exactly what the left and the Media did with Gabby Giffords. They tried immediately to associate the shooter with the right and tea party. When it turned out he was leftist nut job, then they just immediately blamed Sarah Palin. What??

The media are political hacks who stop at nothing to promote their liberal agenda anytime there is a horrible event that they think can be useful to their collective purpose: demonize conservatives and conservative values.

Colorado Tea Partier Fingered By ABC News’ Brian Ross As Batman Movie Shooter Says He Still Hasn’t Heard From Them Or Received An Apology

Colorado Tea Party Patriots member Jim Holmes told The Daily Caller in a Friday interview that his day has been “surreal” after falsely being linked to the Batman movie massacre in Colorado by an on-air ABC News reporter.

“What kind of idiot makes that kind of statement?” Holmes told TheDC. “Really, seriously, how do we take a journalist seriously when it’s pretty clear they really haven’t done any sort of check on their facts?”

It worse than that really.. This Brian Ross guy is not just a talking head or “journalist” His title is ABC News Chief Investigator. It’s abysmal and unforgivable. …And where was the logical follow up question from Stephanopolis vis-a-vis corroborating facts or evidence for the claim..again inexcusable. I’m not a big fan of litigation, but in this situation I think the falsely accused Mr Holmes should sue ABC for negligence and dereliction, and he should also sue individually both Brian Ross and George S. for defamation at the least. They potentially put his life and livelihood (and his family) at risk.

I haven’t heard of this blog so I can’t vouch for it’s veracity (maybe other TAMs are familiar with Doo Doo Economics) but there is enough circumstantial facts outlined here that raise the possibility this “joker” had been involved with the Occupy movement in his former home city of San Diego. I know that having been chastened by being so quick to judge before that ABC won’t be investigating this link. But I hope Fox and other responsible outlets do look into this possibility.

Just sent this to the local paper as a letter from readers …

The mass shooting this week is certain to fuel the aspirations of proponents of ‘gun control’ in the US. It’s a theme the administration has been hitting hard from day one and in this they’ve been assisted by a complicit mass media. The shooting is sensational but, before believing all the platitudes from the left about how dangerous guns are in the hands of US citizens, it must be realized that the rate of homicide with firearms in the US is down. Even the far left Huffington Post reports that single-victim gun killings have dropped more than 40 percent since 1980. What they don’t mention is that since 1980 the number of firearms in the US has grown and now, most states provide concealed firearm permits. Truth is, US citizens are, in the vast majority, responsible with weapons. For example, the murder perpetrator rate for white males in the US has always been unsensational and has traditionally been between that of France and Finland – neither of which come to mind when thinking of bullet riddled streets.

Should this administration seriously want to do something about criminal irresponsibility with firearms the it should look inward. Clinton and Holder persist repeating in the lie that ’90 percent’ of Mexican drug cartel guns come from the US while promoting gun control even though they know better. Stratfor, a well-regarded private intelligence firm competently reported the truth more than a year ago. They revealed “, the 90 percent number was derived from a June 2009 U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report to Congress on U.S. efforts to combat arms trafficking to Mexico. According to the GAO report, some 30,000 firearms were seized from criminals by Mexican authorities in 2008. Of these 30,000 firearms, information pertaining to 7,200 of them (24 percent) was submitted to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for tracing. Of these 7,200 guns, only about 4,000 could be traced by the ATF, and of these 4,000, some 3,480 (87 percent) were shown to have come from the United States. … In fact, the 3,480 guns positively traced to the United States equals less than 12 percent of the total arms seized in Mexico in 2008 and less than 48 percent of all those submitted by the Mexican government to the ATF for tracing. This means that almost 90 percent of the guns seized in Mexico in 2008 were not traced back to the United States.”

BATFE’s outrageous “Fast and Furious” operation was a blatant and cynical attempt to try and support the lie needed to justify extraconstitutional gun restrictions. Unlike all earlier cross border gun trace efforts, this one made no real effort to track or prevent the criminal use of the guns once in Mexico, a grotesque stunt has cost the lives of at least 200 Mexicans, according to the Attorney General in Mexico, and so far at least one US law enforcement agent.

If Obama really wants to impact gun violence he should prosecute Holder then resign.
