I have to admit, I find it very strange that he’d make this announcement on a Saturday, but the sooner the better we learn who the pick is. All outlets are now reporting this, and the Weekly Standard has a press release from the Romney camp confirming.

We have lots of TAMs in Virginia, which as we all know is an very important state in the presidential race. I was crushed when it went to the Dumb Bastard in 2008. People are still speculating on who the VP choice will be. Virginia means it could be Gov. McDonnell, which would be an excellent choice. Others are saying it’s Paul Ryan. I’m not even going to hazard a guess except to say I really like the Patraeus idea and think Allen West would be an excellent choice as well. Susana Martinez has also been on my list as you know.

Two questions for you: Who do you think it will be? And who do you wish it would be?

Now, for some program notes: TAM Chat will be up starting at 845am ET for about an hour. Plus, we have the Tammy Radio Saturday Special Hour at 2pm PT where we would normally play a “Daily TAM Briefing” sneak peek. But if the announcement is made tomorrow morning I will go LIVE at 2pm PT with a Tammy Radio Special Report for the hour. TAM Chat will be up then as well. The live show will also be posted as a public podcast for those of you who can’t catch the live show.

Stay in touch with the blog for updates.

UPDATE:

Real Clear Politics offers up this NBC segment on the news. NBC, btw, is predicting Paul Ryan.

Will your 2pm PT Special Report also be posted as a podcast? Can’t make the live show. Thanks.

I’m thinking it will be Paul Ryan. I’m alright with Ryan, I think he could bring lots to the ticket. But my favorite pick would be Allen West *sigh* I would love to see that debate with Biden.

  3. lawmom90 says:

I think it will be Paul Ryan; I’d like it to be Allen West or Liz Cheney.

  4. larrygeary says:

Drudge says Romney’s plane is parked in Ryan’s home town, so I think it will be Ryan. I think he’s a good choice. The number one issue is the economy, and this means the Romney team represents a double dose of economic expertise. The idea of choosing a military man has merit, but appointing a super Secretary of Defense would deal with that issue more directly.

  5. blogchick says:

Just heard that it is Ryan, according to anonymous sources…blah, blah. Heard on my local radio, 12:30 am Central.

Relieved it is not Rubio…but not sure how I feel about this just yet. Not reallly bold or daring.

    Looking forward to Tammy’s analysis.

If it’s Ryan, consider this WSJ editorial of a couple days ago: “Why Not Paul Ryan?”.

You know what? I don’t know who Romney will pick, and I’m not keen on even speculating. We may be impressed, and we may not, and I don’t care about that either. This thing is in Romney’s hands, and he will either win it or he won’t, and the only thing for me to do is add my miniscule efforts to his campaign. So, like it or not, I’m going to assume that Romney knows what he’s doing, because to do anything else will ruin my focus and probably my digestion, and to no purpose.

Oh how I wish I could be as cool, calm and collected as Maynard!!. I so want to take the position he takes in his comment. I do realize that little I do will actually have any impact, and yet, I feel all a twitter thinking about the coming weeks and how the campaign will twist and turn. So I guess I’ll invest in some TUMS to help with the indigestion and stare at the radio at 9 am waiting for the “announcement”. The games have begun, and we have to be in it if we’re gonna win it!

i think it’ll be ryan..i’d like it to be west or cheney…oh well…at least ryan HAS A BRAIN & can TALK alrite

  8. NeverSurrender says:

Romney announcing on the USS Wisconsin may be the clue to who his VP choice is.

    • aardvark says:

or symbolic pandering? This Army vet/wife/mom wonders. I too am a huge West fan but, like Palin (who did grow into better-qualified/experienced), he may need more time to become better prepped.

      Next time (#Palin/West20…)

  9. yayii says:

Really like Senator Rubio, so very relieved it won’t be him 🙂

  10. jmm says:

Allen West would b my # 1 choice. Ryan is a bold choice I’m behind it!

  11. Maynard says:

So do we really already “know” it’s Ryan? Can we blame this leak on Obama?

What I’d like from the coming administration is the sense that there’s a workable plan here. Platitudes and generalities are easy, as are pie-in-the-sky schemes. Get tough on Iran, get tough on China, cut the fat, balance the budget, energy independence, save the whales, fight tooth decay, blah blah blah. How?? Roll up your sleeves and give us the nuts and bolts; make us see that real-world progress is possible. I suppose this is blasphemy, but I’d rather you not promise what you can’t (or have no intention to) deliver.

(By the way, that was a thing I liked about Newt; he was quite specific in details, and conveyed the impression that he wasn’t just talking. I give Ryan credit for approaching our vital economic problems in a workmanlike way, although he’s young and hasn’t had the opportunity to make these things happen. Yeah, as was the case with Obama, and we see where that got us. There’s nothing quite like a real track record. But a Ryan plan is a more realistic bet than an Obama plan. At least a Ryan plan doesn’t involve unicorns.)

We live in interesting times. Given the choice, I’d rather live in dull times. If I ever get to be president, my aspiration will be to be the dullest president in history.

  12. larrygeary says:

You know, it’s odd that the press says that A, B, C and D are on the short list along with “an unnamed wildcard”. Well, if Ryan is the choice, and it’s all over and done, why not name the “wildcard”?

  13. dennisl59 says:

At this writing, Drudge, Fox, NRO and The Hill are all reporting Ryan.

Tammy, McDonnell is more RINO than you may be aware (I’m around the corner from Norfolk). MUCH earlier in the campaign season (before the GOP nominee was decided), his Lt. Gov. was Mitt’s VA state manager. While he has done some good things on the Second Amendment, regulating abortion clinics (so they have to meet the same health standards as any other out-patient surgical centers (to protect women’s health), he has also supported George Allen — and more. He’s pretty spendy on make-work stuff with the philosophy that it is government’s job to make businesses succeed & to create jobs vs. GET OUT OF THEIR WAY and let them succeed or fail on the their own.

That Tea Party House AND Senate is CRITICAL!! Rise up, TAMs!!!!!!!

PS: A little spooked that my astute, quiet hubby’s reaction was, “We’ve lost.”

    • Tammy says:

Buck up that astute hubby of yours!! There’s lots of pressure, yes, and the GOP has screwed it up before but we can do it this time! The difference? We now have a Tea Party grand of mind 🙂

A RomPaul Ticket! But do we have to listen to that beacon of conservatism (Bill Kristol) all morning?

  16. sandyl says:

I think it was good to announce today. It will be all the talk on Sunday news show!

Wow, Romney was not only On Time but Early!!
    Thats a good sign?
