A monopoly is generally declared to be a bad thing, and is in fact an illegal thing; yet with labor not only is the monopoly legal but mandatory. Which is fine when the system is functional, but there's obviously a problem when a viable business shuts down because they're not allowed to hire workers, and this in an environment when people are begging for work.
