As I told you he would be, regardless of all the GOP Kabuki Theatre about how awful Hagel is and demanding this, that and the other thing before they’s consider the nomination. All the GOP behavior meant to convince you they’re not just a rubber stamp for the Dumb Bastard. Now Obama has his “Republican” to implement the dismantling of our military. Pathetic.

US Senate votes to confirm Chuck Hagel as next secretary of defense of the United States; approval resolves weeks of delay over nomination due to Republican criticisms over Hagel’s record on Iran, Israel, Mideast.

The US Senate voted to confirm Chuck Hagel as America’s next secretary of defense in a 58-41 vote Tuesday afternoon.

The approval resolves weeks of delay and recrimination over the nomination, which Republicans initially held up over criticisms of Hagel’s record on Iran, Israel and several other Middle East-related issues.

Hagel, a former Republican senator from Nebraska, had in the past taken positions against unilateral sanctions on Iran and ruling out military force against the Islamic Republic, among other controversial stances, but disavowed those and many others during his confirmation hearing last month.

The vote was held after enough Republican senators agreed to allow the procedure earlier in the day. With Republicans clearing the way for a vote, Hagel was all but assured confirmation on a straight up-or-down tally, as the chamber has a Democratic majority.

Though Hagel has now been confirmed, the large number of no votes indicate that he remains an unpopular figure for many in the body he will now need to engage over a series of thorny issues, including deep cuts scheduled to hit the military.

Pray for Israel.

    Hagel will from now on be an official embarrassment for the GOP. As I’m sure it was the Democrat’s plan all along. Not to mention Hagel will have no qualms implementing the Obama agenda. No wonder the Republican’s look like fools, because they are.

    Iran and the Democrats in agreement about who should be the US Secretary of Defense. Imagine that.

    In case you were wondering who were up to bat for the RINOs this ending:

    God speaking to Abraham, the father of Israel;

    Genesis 12:2-3
    2 “I will make you into a great nation,
    and I will bless you;
    I will make your name great,
    and you will be a blessing.
    3 I will bless those who bless you,
    and whoever curses you I will curse;
    and all peoples on earth
    will be blessed through you.”

    Please God, do not curse the USA because of the actions of the President. Many Americans do not support him. We know You have Your Hand over Israel. Please hold Your Hand over the USA.

    I hate to say “I told you so” but all of you Paul worshipers just got kicked in the groin. Sonny Boy Rand voted to confirm Hagel. At least Juan McAmnesty and Goober Lindsay Graham had the stones to vote no.

    Wow, day after day this government gets packed with more and more asses (and I don’t mean donkeys).

    I want to hear Rand Paul’s explanation for his vote. It is pathetic. Ted Cruz still hasn’t disappointed.

    I’m keeping tabs.

    This entire government, from top to bottom needs to be flushed down the Potomac to the Atlantic ocean. This whole smelly septic tank of rot needs be dumped. When a barrel full of pickles starts rotting you need to dump the whole thing, clean out the barrel and then refill it with fresh clean pickles. In today’s vernacular, the system has become corrupted and no longer works correctly, we need to reformat the hard drive, and reboot with a fresh clean uncorrupted program.

    This isn’t about ideology. When Hagel predicted the Iraq troop surge would fail catastrophically, and his prediction turned out to be completely wrong, he demonstrated that he simply doesn’t have the knowledge or skills to do this particular job. It’s like a guy applying for a position as an accountant, but he’s on the record as asserting that 2 plus 2 equals 5. If you’ve got that guy adding your figures, then your system will mess up. What part of this do people not understand?

    This is just another pathetic disgrace of useless politicians bringing our country down AGAIN.

    Memo to all job-seekers: At the interview, just say you really don’t know too much about how to do things, but you will really try hard to learn on the job.

    Hey, it worked for Hagel!

    From what I’ve heard, Rand Paul’s explanation is that the President deserves his prerogative. The position that I would take (and would like some Republican to take) is; Because the Senate has not passed a budget in 4 years, the bar for confirming Cabinet level appointees has been raised significantly. Mr. Hagel does not clear that bar. A President deserves leeway in Cabinet appointees, but that assumes that the other normal government checks and balances are in place. That is not the case today, having no budget with none in sight. If the Senate passes a budget, then I will revisit Mr. Hagel’s nomination for Defense Secretary.

    Off topic. Afghanistan has an increase in drug addiction, many women and children. These sentences caught my eye.

    Of course, nothing to see hear you ‘little people’!

    I guess Obama didn’t need McCain’s Vote after all.

    I submit to the TAM world, the GOP is just another appendage of the Obama Administration, similar to MSNBC, CNN, and Print Media.

    BBC article on Hagel 2011 comment that has irked (riled?) India. Article has this sentence toward the end: “…”Republicans are always better for India,” says Mr Karnad. “They have a much better strategic sense than the Democrats.”…”
