controlbJust when I think it cannot possibly get any worse – WHAM!!! This IS social engineering and there will not be one ounce of substance to this waste of taxpayer money.  Hey idiots, do you want to know why some communities, cities, urban areas are failing?  Check out who has been in charge of the local government and you will find lefty, liberals everywhere you look.  So fix it – fire yourselves and let these areas begin to thrive on their own!

From FOX News

In a move some claim is tantamount to social engineering, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is imposing a new rule that would allow the feds to track diversity in America’s neighborhoods and then push policies to change those it deems discriminatory.

The policy is called, “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing.” It will require HUD to gather data on segregation and discrimination in every single neighborhood and try to remedy it.

HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan unveiled the federal rule at the NAACP convention in July.

“Unfortunately, in too many of our hardest hit communities, no matter how hard a child or her parents work, the life chances of that child, even her lifespan, is determined by the zip code she grows up in. This is simply wrong,” he said.

Data from this discrimination database would be used with zoning laws, housing finance policy, infrastructure planning and transportation to alleviate alleged discrimination and segregation.

Specifics of the proposed rule are lacking. Now published in the Federal Register and undergoing a 60-day comment period, the rule, “does not prescribe or enforce specific” policies.

But one critic says it smacks of utopian idealism.

“This is just the latest of a series of attempts by HUD to social engineer the American people,” said Ed Pinto, of the American Enterprise Institute. “It started with public housing and urban renewal, which failed spectacularly back in the 50’s and 60’s. They tried it again in the 90’s when they wanted to transform house finance, do away with down payments, and the result was millions of foreclosures and financial collapse.”

Some fear the rule will open the floodgates to lawsuits by HUD —  a weapon the department has already used  in places like Westchester County, N.Y., where mayors and attorneys representing several towns, like Cortlandt, are writing HUD to protest burdensome fair housing mandates that go far beyond those agreed to in a 2009 settlement with HUD.

One letter written by Cortlandt town attorney Thomas Wood expresses a common dilemma.

“Cordlandt is mostly residential and has only a few vacant parcels that could be developed for commercial use,” he writes. “In order to stabilize the tax base amongst the most affordable in Westchester County, the Town Board needs to encourage the development of commercial property for commercial use.”

Rob Astorino, the Westchester County Executive, recently said, “What they are trying to do is to say discrimination and zoning is the same thing. They are not. Discrimination won’t be tolerated. I won’t tolerate it. Zoning though, protects what can and can’t be built in a neighborhood.”

Also troublesome to critics is that the HUD secretary, in announcing this proposed rule, blamed poverty on zip codes – rather than other socio-economic factors that studies have shown contribute to poverty.

From IBD: HUD Launches Scheme To Racially Diversify Suburbs

Now even ZIP codes are racist, and according to this race-obsessed administration, you’re racist for living in a suburban area with little public housing. And it plans to change that.

In what may be the most ambitious social-engineering project undertaken by the federal government, the administration is mapping every neighborhood in America by race. The stated purpose is to use the data to compel local officials to loosen zoning laws and build more public housing, thereby offering more poor inner-city minorities better opportunities for housing and education.

But the unstated purpose is forced racial integration. The suburbs are just too white for Obama and his race-mongering social engineers. They think they “geospatially discriminate” against minorities, never mind that more and more middle-class blacks are flocking to them on their own.

So, does this mean that all the Manhattan elites, who spout the usual Lib talking points, are going to actually have their ‘hoods reflect more diversity? Funny, I remember the hysteria several years ago on the Upper West Side of Manhattan (Uber Lib Country) when there was a proposed methadone maintenance clinic to be opened right smack in the middle of things. You could hear them screaming, all the way to Staten Island!

Why stop at zip codes? Let’s go house to house. It’s such a waste for a single rich family to live in a mansion. Many downtrodden families can fit into those places.

And let’s start in neighborhoods where the Clintons, Kerrys, Pelosi’s, etc. live.

This could fuel the race war db wants.

They’re (the administration brainiacs) really thrashing. Anything to avoid the reality of what their prior experiments have wrought.

Just as Congress exempts itself from Obamacare, you know the power brokers and cronies are insulated from the hell they visit upon the grass roots.

We’re dealing with people that see themselves as having sole possession of the truth. Thus, anybody that won’t go along is acting out of ignorance or evil. And it follows that coercive force must be applied to make those ignorant, evil people fall into line.

It’s amazing what nastiness human beings are willing to perpetrate under the banner of “tolerance”.

Hmmm…was just glancing at today’s news and find “US speaks to Israel over its approval of 147 new settler homes and plans for 949 more”.

So the Obama doctrine is to compel diversity except where it’s Jews moving in, in which case you protest.

IE, all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. 🙁

This is nothing but Affirmative Action for housing. Michelle sued Princeton over segregation. I guess she didn’t want to live in a dorm with other caucasians. Gee, who’s the real racist here? My apartment complex has all colors of occupants. Haven’t heard any complaints. If Obummer gets his way, only .00001% of caucasians can live in any neighborhood. 🙁

Another day, and yet another steaming hot pile of crap served up by Obama and his round table midgets.

Purpose is to support/ease cities annexing suburbs.

No Alain, it’s to make sure that all neighborhoods become slums and have dark crime run rampant everywhere except their exclusive walled in enclaves. Reminds me of middle ages when Kings, Dukes, and Barons had Castles to live in apart from the peasants.

  11. Maynard says:

Taranto, in his WSJ analysis of the diversity program, has solved the problem.

Well, now we know why the War on Poverty–announced by President Johnson in his 1964 State of the Union address–was a failure: because poverty is caused by ZIP codes, which were introduced in 1963.

But wouldn’t a more expedient solution be to order the Postal Service to gerrymander the ZIP code maps to ensure diversity?

So glad BHO is headed to Martha’s Vineyard this week. He can explain to the folks there how this idea will impact their lifestyle.

Stanley Kurtz NRO column about this; it’s to support TOD (transient oriented development), eg, force everyone to live around transient train centers and eliminate parking, so one can’t have a car, forcing all onto public transportation.
