obama cowboy hatObama is now tweeking his red line statement. He wasn’t speaking for himself necessarily. He’s the man with the world on his shoulders doing the right thing for humanity, or just another day at the office as Obama sees it.

The administration claims we really do have a lot of countries behind military action against Syria. We can’t actually see them for a number of reasons explained behind closed doors, but John Kerry wants us to know the supporters are there. In fact other Middle Eastern countries are so into military action they are willing to pay the entire cost of an invasion,or as Kerry prefers to say it, “the whole thing the way we’ve done it previously in other places”.

A noble knight hired to do battle for good. I had a flashback to my youth (it’s a long wait for the thunder). There was a popular TV show about an itinerant knight of sorts, “Have Gun, Will Travel”. He went under the name Paladin. (Paladins were Christian warriors of Charlemagne’s medieval court who fought against the Saracens.) Paladin was a refined professional gunfighter for hire whose business card read, “Have Gun, Will Travel”.

As it says in Wikipedia

This series follows the adventures of “Paladin”, a gentleman gunfighter (played by Richard Boone on television and by John Dehner on radio). He prefers to settle matters without violence the difficulties brought his way by clients who pay him. When forced, he excels in fisticuffs and the use of dueling weapons.

Paladin resides at the posh Hotel Carlton in San Francisco, in suite 205 as related in “The Singer”. His attire is stylish and elegant, so much so that, on their initial meeting, many clients take him for an Eastern dandy. Paladin enjoys the opera, the theatre, recitals and other refined entertainments. He happily partakes in gourmet meals, […]

When his services are engaged, Paladin dons black trail clothing, becoming a “black knight,” so to speak, an anonymous chevalier lacking a coat-of-arms by which he may be identified.

Kerry says the sort of arrangement the anonymous Middle Eastern countries are looking for isn’t in the cards. Obama as Paladin may well be the fantasy of a different man who might remember the show and also likes to play cards…

…John McCain.

Pat_S, I used to like that show growing up. Has he claimed to be Paladin now? I can’t keep up. Oh wait, Paladins were Christian warriors…never mind.

As I understand Kerry, in essence he said that bombing Syria, wouldn’t be war war. I think I need Whoopi Goldberg to translate for me.

Palladin, Palladin, where will you roam? Methinks Obama watches too much 60’s television.

He may consider himself a reverse paladin who works on behalf of the Saracens. After all he is 1/2 dark and he does like to do things in the dark of night, mostly behind closed doors where no one can oppose him, mostly (shades of aliens).

IIRC, Obama did in fact draw a “red line” but everyone seems to forget the rest of the statement where he said that if Syria crossed that red line; “We’re going to have some meetings about what to do next.”
And, truth be told, they’ve been having meetings. Problem solved.

Speaking of Paladin; Terry McAuliffe, Democrat, running for Gov. of Virginia has bought in. http://washingtonexaminer.com/political-cronies-keep-cash-flowing-to-terry-mcauliffe/article/2535330

“…McAuliffe has $50,000 to $250,000 “partnership interest” in Paladin Capital, according to his latest personal financial disclosure….Paladin was founded by longtime Democratic operative Michael Steed. Steed is a former executive director of the Democratic National Committee… One Paladin property is a company called Nexidia, which Private Equity Week wrote “provides data-mining software.” When it invested in Nexidia, Paladin got to place a representative on the software company’s board. Paladin chose Lt. Gen. Ken Minihan, former director the National Security Agency….
