churchillnote

Because they were concerned about offending the Germans. Not. Kidding. The Germans should thank the allies until the end of time for stopping them from destroying the world. In fact, if I were running the EU, here are the men who would be featured on all that currency: Churchill, Eisenhower, Patton, and FDR.

Bank of England officials reportedly came close to banning Sir Winston Churchill from the face of a new 5-pound note they plan to issue in 2016 because they didn’t want to upset the Germans.

Previously classified documents obtained by Britain’s Daily Mail include a memo dated April 11, 2012, from officials to Mervyn King, then governor of the Bank. They warn that the “recentness of World War II is a living memory for many here and on the Continent,” and note that Churchill’s wartime record could make him a highly controversial choice for the bill.

Other comments relating to Britain’s relationship with its former enemies have been redacted from the files.

A source at the Bank told the Mail: “Public bodies are obliged to redact any material which might impact on Britain’s international relations with another country, and this is what has happened here.”

  1. i personally have a hunch that it is just the libtards in the UK that hate Churchill and will find any excuse to erase him from history. I have noticed that the Euro only has pictures of old buildings and aqua-ducts and the like on it. I guess this makes sense so there is not endless arguing over which figures get to be on the bills. But it also fits the leftist push to discard old traditional patriarchs/matriarchs in a bid to focus society on the brave new world ahead… a future devoid of great individuals and individualism, and more focus put on the great grand central society. Sweden, and Norway still celebrate their famous folks who stood out in their history, while Denmark has gone off the common sense cliff, replacing their old heroes like Niels Bor and the rest, with just lame pictures of bridges, government funded, designed, bridges. How lame. On the other side, ancient artifacts like an arrowhead or pottery. I feel this a big step in the wrong direction. Banks in Denmark are also closing down many branches and finding a branch that takes cash is getting harder and harder. So soon you wont have any hard currency to hold and the ones you have now have nothing reminding the young generations of their rich heritage:( Just think of every dollar bill you hold as a tiny US Flag! Holding and keeping that money really is a tangible sense of being an American. I fear leftists want to get rid of that feeling and attempt to redirect our loyalties in the process. I also see this insane attempt to push hard away from the concept of individualism and bold initiative, with years of lame Nobel Peace prizes and Time person of the years, going to strange groups or even trade unions instead of worthy persons. Remember the EU won the peace prize last year?? And during 2011 wasn’t the Time person of the year, The Protestor??

Those pictures on the euros are made up. They represent a style or mood or something from European history, but they are not actual real buildings or places, then or now. Mark Steyn has written about the fictitious euro pics in a few of his columns.

This is incredible. You just have to give it the headshake, but watch out. See what the crazy liberals in England are trying to do? The crazy liberals over here would do the same thing if they thought they could get away with it. They already want “In God We Trust” off everything, including the money. They want to cover up history and foundational truth at every turn, it’s disgusting.

Well, we wouldn’t want to hurt any Germans’ feelings. Nor would we want to hurt the feelings of the approximately 50 million people who died as a result of WWII. Oh wait, we can’t hurt their feelings. They’re dead.

    Never mind. 🙁

Why don’t they just get it over with and make a fictitious rendition of Mohammed’s ugly mug. That would really make all those Muslims in Twitland happy.
