Texas politics. Greg Abbott was on the October 2013 cover of Texas Monthly magazine with a shotgun, so now Democrats are circulating a pic of Wendy Davis posing with Ann Richards’ shotgun that Ann’s daughter presented to her. Supposed to show continuity from last Democrat woman Governor, Richards, to the presumptive next one. Republicans are comparing pic to Dukakis’ tank pic. DailyKos calls that mudslinging. Wonder what DK said about the push grandma off the cliff advertisement.

You know how democrats are always screaming about the evil’s of gun ownership, and the “violent images” of gun owners exercising the Second Amendment rights?
Yeah forget all of that!
National punch line, and [snort] Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis accepted the gift of former Texas Governor Ann Richards’ old shotgun, and couldn’t wait to pose with it, in an effort to look like an “authentic” Texan. Literally no one was fooled!
….It should be noted that democrats ripped Texas Monthly Magazine to shreds for using this cover photo of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who will be our next Governor …. barring something drastic …. like the end of the world.
A later edition of the far left magazine was filled with complaints from readers about the “unfortunate” and “violent imagery” of Abbott with HIS shotgun after this cover hit the newsstands. Evidently it’s OK for a gun grabbing radical Marxist like Wendy Davis to pose with her gun though. I mean it’s not like she actually knows how to use it!

The Texas Monthly cover story on Abbott included a trip by the author with Abbott and a bunch of his lifelong friends on a bird hunt. Our Attorney General is reportedly a pretty good shot!…

Texan politicial sentiment was shown in the last statewide election in 2012 for U.S.Senate: Cruz-R, 56.6%, Sadler-D, 40.5%. And it is common knowledge to the High Information Voters here that Abbott pushed back, hard, against the EPA, DOJ, et al, citing States Rights under the 10th Amendment. It should also be noted that Cornyn is running ads too, touting his ‘Conservative’ credentials; he’s, to me, little better than Kay Bailey(known RINO/MSLSD favorite).

Don’t know about how out of the running Wendy Davis is – I’m thinking it might be close enough for the Dems to steal. We lived north of Houston and our county seemed to transition from staunch conservative to slightly conservative in the last few years. The good news is that the Governor of Texas is such a weak position that it will be sufficient for conservatives to hold the Legislature and Lt. Governor positions to stifle anything Ms. Wendy would want to accomplish.

Relative to this story; NY Times has hired the editor of Texas Monthly magazine to be the editor of the NYT weekly magazine. The article above says that Texas Monthly alleges that NYT started recruiting the editor in Dec. 2012. While that may or may not be true, the following time line is factual; Greg Abbott was on the cover of the Oct. 2103 Texas Monthly, NYT fired its magazine editor Dec. 2013, Wendy Davis was pictured with a shotgun Jan/Feb 2014, editor hired at NYT in March 2014. I wonder if all the Democrats who wrote hate mail to Texas Monthly after the Abbott cover will write to NYT expressing disgust with its recent hire of the responsible editor.
