Well, looks like Charles Krauthammer got it exactly right:

Yesterday, after John Kerry’s outrageous remarks regarding Israel potentially becoming an “apartheid” state, Krauthammer stated:

This is an injury to an ally that will echo, because it will be repeated. People will say, ‘I’m not saying this, it is the Secretary of State of the United States.’

And, less than twenty-four hours after Kerry put his foot in his mouth (so to speak), this:

Via Breitbart: Palestinian Negotiator: Israel Sabotaging Talks, Trying to ‘Consolidate Apartheid Regime’

PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat released a statement Tuesday claiming that the Israeli contingent at the recently concluded round of peace talks “never gave the negotiations a chance to succeed” and that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used the talks to “consolidate [Israel’s] Apartheid regime….”

Anyway, poor John Kerry is getting slammed for using the “A-word’ with Israel.

Maybe that’s because he’s…um…another ‘A-word.’

Comments like this do not come out by accident. Kerry MEANT them, his boss AGREES with them.

Guy just seems not well. Throwing kerosene on the smoldering area was his parting shot. Wonder what the job description for Secretary of State is.

The big change Obama made in American policy was to call for the green line as the basis for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, and to put the division of Jerusalem back in play. This encouraged Palestinian intransigence, thus dooming the already-unlikely peace process. Now Obama’s boy stoops to name-calling, in order to divert blame to Israel instead of where it obviously belongs.

  4. MACVEL says:

As long as we allow Obama to stay in office, this malevolence will increase.

In post, Mark writes that Iraeli Apartheid Week started in Toronto in 2005 by Bernie Farber, the then head of the Canadian Jewish Congress. Bernie’s beyond loony. Apologies to loons.

In other Dept. of State news; the Preparatory Committee for the 2015 Review of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) held its 3rd meeting this week at the UN. Here are excerpts from the address by Rose Gottemoeller, Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security. The Ukraine comment is particularly disconnected.

“…it is the United States’ deep understanding of the consequences of nuclear weapons use…that has guided and motivated our efforts to reduce and ultimately eliminate these most hazardous weapons. The NPT plays a central role in our pursuit of a nuclear weapons-free world….as of September 2013, the number of nuclear weapons in the active U.S. arsenal has fallen to 4,804. This newly declassified number represents an 85 percent reduction in the U.S. nuclear stockpile since 1967….Among other accomplishments, we achieved consensus on a P5 NPT Reporting Framework, which has guided our national reporting to the 2014 PrepCom. In keeping with our Action Plan commitments…The United States is working to support nuclear-weapon-free zones…as I speak of setting strong examples, yesterday, Ukraine held an event celebrating its historic decision twenty years ago, alongside Belarus and Kazakhstan, to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty as non-nuclear-weapon states. Ukraine’s reaffirmation of its nonproliferation obligations reminds us of its critical contribution to help move us toward a world without nuclear weapons. We strongly appreciate the clear sightedness of Ukraine on this matter….”

Applying the word, apartheid, to a country is a call for sanctions at least, if not violence. Well just the other day, unnamed American officials spoke to an Israeli journalist about the recent failed peace talks and here are some of their statements.

“…warned Israel that the Palestinians will achieve statehood come what may — either via international organizations or through violence….One bitter American official told Barnea, “I guess we need another intifada to create the circumstances that would allow progress.” A third intifada, the Americans made clear, “would be a tragedy…. ”Israel is not China. It was founded by a UN resolution. Its prosperity depends on the way it is viewed by the international community.”…” http://www.timesofisrael.com/us-officials-even-if-israel-doesnt-like-it-palestinians-will-get-state/

A few thoughts: 1) saying what we want is going to happen, the easy way or the hard way, is what Democrats have been saying about amnesty; give us an amnesty bill or Obama will just do it himself anyway; 2)didn’t realize that the previous intifadas weren’t tragedies (and isn’t that also a mob protection statement, beautiful family, wouldn’t want anything to happen to them); and 3)speaking of mob protection statements the statement about Israel’s prosperity depends on how we view it is one. Used to be that freedom was the basis for prosperity. So the administration thuggery is through and through. Will someone please call those horrible statements out. I’m not embarrassed, but disgusted by them.
