tim scott

In another example of Democrats “tolerance” and promotion of “diversity,” South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott is blasted for not voting like the color of skin apparently dictates. So will Scott be assigned a “voting etiquette” coach to vote on his behalf in the way he should mean to vote?

Via TPNN:

Racism is alive and well in the Democrat Party. Though Democrats continue to pretend that the GOP is filled with bigots, the left is offered a pass for the horrendously inappropriate things they say and do….

And just when it seemed that Democrats had hit rock-bottom on their ridiculous rhetoric, Assistant Democratic Leader and apparent devout racist Rep. James Clyburn slammed South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, who is also black, for not voting according to the color of his skin.

In a Washington Post article discussing Sen. Scott, Rep. Clyburn complained,

“If you call progress electing a person with the pigmentation that he has, who votes against the interest and aspirations of 95 percent of the black people in South Carolina, then I guess that’s progress.”

….When will fellow Democrats, and their lapdogs in the media, begin to hold these bigoted Democrats to the same standards that America holds Republicans?

Rep. James Clyburn is one of the problems in “so-called” black leadership in America today. The irony of his bigotry is lost on him, and every black liberal like him. “Toe the line, little Timmy, or face the wrath of verbal (lynching) by your own people.” No need for the white supremacist with this bunch around. They make me want to gag.

I don’t get it. Rep. Clyburn is not saying anything different in that quote from what commentators have been criticizing Obama about for a while now: “He is a black president, but blacks have not done well under his policies.” Clyburn didn’t say that Scott is not “voting the way his color dictates.” He said that Scott (who is black) has voted against the interests of most blacks, and was being sarcastic that that’s “progress.” I don’t see that as racist. It’s just pointing out something ironic, that you’d think a black person would care about the plight of other black people. This doesn’t have to mean “to the exclusion of others.” It’s a way of asking, “Where do his interests lie?”

I disagree that Scott is voting against the interests of blacks. I think he’s doing fine, from what I’ve heard from him. What he’s wanted just hasn’t gotten the chance to be implemented. I *do* question, however, why Obama doesn’t get that what he’s been doing has been hurting blacks pretty badly. You’d think with how badly they’ve been doing he’d wonder why his policies have not helped them. Their economic prospects were better under Bush!
