My immediate reaction was to compare the melting down of 5000 firearms to a book burning, but that’s not quite accurate.

Would be nice to know how LA’s violent crime has changed over the last 21 years. Or is asking for a followup review of outcome now passe? Accountability is so anti-good feelings and non-egalitarian.
Wonder how many of those turned in guns for burning were saved by those same officers. I would say they know firearms…so how many of these turned in guns were vintage and very valuable. I remember this happening a few years ago in some state…and I remember seeing a pile of guns mostly junk, but right in the middle was a vintage side by side shotgun. It had pre 20th century engravings and was in very good condition. Maybe a 5 to 8 thousand dollar shotgun; I suspect some eagle eyed deputy snatched that one up….

And so it goes, at the end of the day the liberals feel good and smug about themselves. Yet, in reality they have not accomplished anything other than to waste their time and our money making the situation worse.

That’s good! I’m going to remember that.
I think about the crosses that liberals are so desperate to remove — they harm nothing but remind us who is the boss. Then I think of those abominations called wind-mills — shoddy, unreliable, and a danger to man and beast — those lib “crosses” symbolizing the hatred of energy, of progress, of mankind living well.
And you and I are funding them with tax credits and excess energy bills. Talk about projection!
Maybe they could have auctioned off those guns and used the money to help all those homeless people living UNDER the L.A. freeway overpasses.
Some expensive rebar. The guns are the guilty ones, nothing to do with policy or behavior.
Government doing what it does best. Destroying wealth and property.
In book burning news, Goethe’s library has found Copernicus and the earth still revolves around the sun.
In 2004, the Anna Amalia library in Germany had a fire that burned 50,000 books, many irreplaceable. One of Copernicus’ texts on the proof that the earth revolves around the sun was feared lost. However, it has now been found and is being restored. ISIS will be driving their tanks down those freeways in LA and there won’t be anyone with guns to stop them.
