pink-cookies

I’ve never been to Elyria, Ohio.

And I’ve never tasted their famous pink cookies.

But, on behalf of cookie aficionados everywhere, I say to the residents of Elyria:

We feel your pain.

Via Daily Caller: Now Michelle Obama Has Caused America’s ‘Best Cafeteria Cookie’ To Be Outlawed

An eruption of aggravation about what American schoolchildren can no longer eat in school cafeterias is never far away in the Obama era.

Now, thanks to federal intervention that first lady Michelle has made her signature issue, students in all 11 taxpayer-funded public schools in Elyria, Ohio cannot enjoy the famous Elyria pink cookie anymore….

It’s a velvety, cake-like, scrumptious delicacy glazed with a huge dollop of sugary pink icing. Cleveland magazine dubbed the Elyria pink cookie the “Best Cafeteria Cookie” in 2009. Locals will even call up asking for special bulk orders of the tasty treat….

This year, though, students in the Elyria must say goodbye to all that because of draconian calorie restrictions.

“We can’t have them in the cafeteria for sale, period,” Scott Teaman, who runs the district’s cafeteria services, told The Chronicle-Telegram. “The guidelines for snacks are very strict, and there is no wiggle room.”

….This school year, instead of the illustrious pink cookie, Elyria students will be treated to a salad bar and a yogurt bar. There’s a sandwich bar, too. It will feature vegetables and egg patties….

Amy Higgins, a spokeswoman for Elyria City Schools…“It’s not only a tradition. It’s one that tastes really, really good. You’d be surprised by how many people are upset about the pink cookie going away. Anyone who’s gone to Elyria schools in the last 40 years knows the pink cookie….”

So, what’s next on Mooch’s kill-joy agenda?

She’d better not go after the famous Tam Tam crackers. (See my avatar)

Things could get real ugly in my ‘hood.

Just saying…

Elysian: relating to or characteristic of heaven or paradise.

First they came for the trans fats, then they came for the Big Gulp, now they come for the pink cookies. Will chocolate & coffee be next? I say, take it all back Mooch or you’ll never see the ribs & fries again. Crush crush smash smash.

I’m thinking there are more positives than negatives in those cookies. Probably add spring to the kids steps way beyond the sugar content – something beyond the FLOUTUS mind set.

Why won’t Mooch do something useful, like stopping OJerk from relieving himself on us every-single-day. Instead, she’s busying insuring that every single public educated kid in America hates her. “No more pink cookies for you! Go eat the disc-o-egg at the salad bar.” Like Shifra’s cheesecake, the pink cookies brought smiles and thoughts of happiness to all who ate them. But liberals don’t want anyone to have a little joy in their life, especially the chilluns.

And now the EPA has issued its Back to School ‘advice’; use pencils made from old blue jeans. And don’t buy new clothes, buy used from thrift shops. All this and more from the forthcoming climate change destroy America’s energy sector federal government here to help you agency. http://washingtonexaminer.com/epa-warns-students-against-taking-more-than-one-napkin-at-lunch/article/2552411

Hows about all these odoriferous self styled know it all’s that are springing up from the W.H.’s overflowing cesspool, go pound sand and stop trying to control our lives. We don’t want what you’re selling so go away!

I remember those cookies from my high school days back in the late 1960’s. I attended schools in Lorain, which is the sister city of Elyria. All the schools are part of Lorain County and had the same menu. The elementary and junior high schools didn’t have cafeterias, so we had to bring our lunches. Those were the good ol’ days….bologna and cheese, tuna fish, and those racist pb&j sandwiches. The high schools had the cafeterias where you could smell the food cooking on the way to classes. Along with the fresh made cookies, there were the raised donuts with the chocolate icing…my favorite. I had to make sure I had enough money to buy what I wanted because the cafeteria items weren’t free, and there were no vending machines back then. This was before Dunkin Donuts and Winchells existed. I’m sure Lorain and surrounding towns capitulated first because northern Ohio is democrat-thick..since before Moses. I’m surprised that this story made headlines. Is this a call out of the wilderness for help?

Something else about Elyria that I would like to add. How many remember The May Company? Well, Elyria was its home. There’s a mall in Elyria and Macy’s(formerly Robinson’-May, May company) is the anchor store. When I lived in Lorain, Elyria had the only mall to go shopping at May, Montgomery Wards, Sears, and Penney’s. The only Arby’s opened near the mall so we had to travel. Lorain was the industrial city whereas Elyria was the shoppers city. I’ll also add that when my father passed away, the Elyria-Chronicle-Telegram published his obituary. I have the clipping.
