American soldiers stand at the village fountain, Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, 12 June 1944

**Bumped Up From TAM Wire. Posted By Rob W**

Here are some places Tammy may have visited on her D-Day tour.

Left click and hold on each photo, and then drag your mouse gently from left to right on the original photograph and it will fade to become a photo of the exact same location and view today. Drag it back to the left and you are back in 1944!

Stop in the middle of the transition and 1944 will appear as a ghostly image. Scroll down for the next view.

Here is a different link where the click-and-slide transitions work better. Not as many scenes, but also worth checking out.

While looking at these photos I could not help to think how all these Allied soldiers stood up against tyranny no matter what the cost. Now most people only stand against something when their personal comfort is interrupted. If some psychotic terrorists are murdering innocent people everyday or some nation is constantly attempting to destroy other nations economically everyday is of no concern to people now. I want my stuff no matter what the cost is now the mantra.

One thing that amazes me is just how many of the buildings still survive today. They were rebuilt and seem as strong as ever.
