Via NY Post: White House picks Hawaii theme for Obama’s state china service
President Obama can finally host a state dinner without having to use Bill Clinton’s — or George W. Bush’s — dinnerware.
The White House unveiled its new china service Monday in advance of its first use at an official dinner Tuesday night for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe….
Some of the china’s more striking features include 24-carat gold relief used to rim plates and create the presidential coat of arms. There’s also a special blue coloring — dubbed “Kailua blue” by the White House — meant to evoke Obama’s home state….
And:
Obama is breaking a “buy America” tradition to serve top-shelf sake to the Japanese leader — personally ordering his staff to procure the very best of the rice liquor from Japan.
“This is something that the president personally requested,” an official told The Post. “We still have an American-only concept in our beverage service.”
On Obama’s orders, White House staff tasted some of the world’s top sakes, settling on Dassai 23….

I must admit, I like the “Kailua blue”. Mooch must not have chosen it, cuz it’s purdy. Also, will we have armed guards to check their bags when they leave the WH, ya know, to make sure the dishes stay put. Dems tend to think they own the stuff we let them use. Liberals.
