Liberty4th-of-july

The US embassy in Jakarata, Indonesia, celebrated American Independence Day on June 4th, to avoid the month-long Muslim fast of Ramadan, which begins June 17th.

And, this year’s “June 4th” theme was “go green,” in celebration of green energy.

So, hope you had a ‘Happy Green June 4th,’ everyone!

And, not that anyone I know really cared, but I do recall that the WH held a Chanukah party two weeks early in 2011 because the Obamas were scheduled to be in Hawaii on Dec. 20th, when the holiday began that year.

Just saying…

Via BizPac Review:

A United States embassy’s jaw-dropping decision to move its Fourth of July celebration to June to avoid the Muslim holy month of Ramadan is getting even more attention as the real Independence Day approaches….

In a “Fox & Friends” interview Wednesday, former Special Forces weapons Sgt. Jim Hanson, who now runs a global security firm, called the decision by Ambassador to Indonesia Robert Blake one more sign that “we’ve become overly sensitive to Islamic sensibilities.”

It’s also a sign that American embassies under John Kerry’s State Department aren’t the most sensible places in the world, Hanson said. The decision was unnecessary to the point of being stupid, he said.

“Indonesians are hardly the most extreme Muslims,” he said. “And Ramadan is a time when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. If we wanted to be courteous, we could have just scheduled the celebration for after sunset….

Adding insult to idiocy, Blake declared the theme of the premature July 4 was “go green,” a celebration of “green energy” and presumably a nod to the historic symbolism of the color green for Muslim countries.

“Last time I checked, [Independence Day] wasn’t about green energy, it was about self-evident truths, all men created equal, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” he told host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

“I think that this administration seems to have lost its way and lost the entire concept of what makes America great. There’s nothing wrong with standing up for what’s great about America. We are the exceptional nation – we should act like it.”

Obama hates the Fourth of July, Independence Day. Besides celebrating Independence, it also reminds us of the founding of the country and Obama wants to be the founder of new America including Mexico.

Speaking of Independence, here’s recent quote from EPA Secy: “That is how government works — we tell you what you can do today. We give you the flexibility to get it done yourself and we send a long-term market signal that is going to open up innovation moving forward.” http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/epa-boss-threatens-to-come-knocking-on-doors/article/2566032

While her first sentence is the money quote, I’m going to address her second sentence, specifically the opening up innovation comment. Henry Ford famously said that the consumer could have any color car that they wanted as long as it was black. That was so but public demand combined with the competition threat of other companies offering color options caused Ford to change. If the gov’t said cars could only be black, there is no business competition and public demand runs up against gov’t bureaucrat & congressional inertia to get change and there will always be some more important issue to address. EPA Secy is correct in that gov’t fiat does open up (some) innovation, what it does not do, is open up large innovation. So the nation is poorer for the innovation potential that is lost.

Seems like we’ve gotta respect every two bit ding dongs and their puffery, but who the hell respects us and what we’ve built and believe in? Me thinks it’s because we no longer respect or believe in ourselves. 🙁
