walmartisiscake

I never thought I’d type the words “Wal-Mart ISIS Cake” but here it is.

Not kidding. Great job by Chuck Netzhammer who brought this to everyone’s attention. Wal-Mart, in the meantime, has apologized. And have you noticed that many of our cultural issues seem to be coming down to baking cakes? Hmm…

Via Daily Caller.

“Wal-Mart, can you please explain why you’re alienating Southern Americans with this trash that you allow to be sold at your store, while at the same point Confederate flag memorabilia is not allowed?” Netzhammer asks.

The Daily caller was contacted by Randy Hargrove, a spokesman for Wal-Mart, who said in an email, “Our local store made a mistake. The cake in the video should not have been made and we apologize.”

Hargrove later explained to TheDC, “We made the decision to stop selling Confederate flag related items promoting the flag’s image. For that reason we did not make the cake. [Netzhammer] brought in the other image of ISIS and really, what happened, was our associate didn’t recognize what that image was and what it meant or it wouldn’t have been made.”

Here’s Chuck’s original YouTube video about the situation:

Wal-Mart made a “mistake” ? No, a mistake is when you forget to add sugar to the recipe. A mistake is when you accidentally drop the cake on the floor. *This* is a ******* screw-up….

But would they make a Confederate-themed cake for a gay wedding?

Those bakers got put in a horrible position. They signed up to bake cakes, but now corporate policy has turned them into the cake police. I’m sure they are less than thrilled about that. Okay, then, get on the phone to Bentonville and call for some guidance. Exactly what kind of cakes can be baked?

Maybe they should only offer a pre-selected variety of cake designs, no more custom cakes. Has it come to this? Has we devolved as a society to the point that we can’t handle custom baked cakes anymore? They’re too dangerous? Too many delicate sensibilities can be trampled, too many lives permanently scarred and ruined, because of renegade cakes and menacing turns of icing?

But, the cake customer does make an important point. Okay, Wal-Mart, you want to be the cake police now, do you? Well, since you got in that business, let’s have it. You chose that road, now let’s put you through the paces. Whoops, you messed up already on day two.
