Obama suggested it .

Fox is working on it .

What better way to propagandize Americans than through an innocent TV sitcom? There’s no hiding the intent. It is to open the hearts and minds of all you Islamophobes.

I was imagining something like The Adventures of Aziz and Hooriyah or Everybody Loves Mohammed, but according to Deadline Hollywood the show will be about a 14-year old boy with adult responsibilities as the man of the house. Bet you’re already conjuring up some sordid images about male/female relationships in the Muslim world because of all that cable news you watch.

Too bad there’s already a show called “The Americans”. It’s on FX and it’s about embedded Soviet agents who look, act and live like Americans replete with two kids and a house in the suburbs. In their spare time they engage in espionage and assassination. Not a comedy.

Fox has given a late pilot order to Chad: An American Boy, a single-camera Middle Eastern family comedy co-created by and starring Saturday Night Live alumna Nasim Pedrad and directed by Jason Winer.

[A] 14-year-old boy (Pedrad) in the throes of adolescence is tasked with being the man of the house, which leaves him with all the responsibilities of being an adult without any of the perks.

Pedrad is actually a 34-year-old woman. She made the intention of the show abundantly clear:

I’m thrilled to be able to portray a Middle Eastern family not working for or against Jack Bauer on network TV.

The Canadians were way ahead on this. CBC ran a show called Little Mosque on the Prairie from 2007- 2012.

CBC Television’s hit sitcom LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE is the internationally-acclaimed comedy about Muslims and Christians attempting to live in harmony with each other in the small town of Mercy. And they are about to learn that it isn’t as easy as they thought.

I saw a few episodes in the first season. It wasn’t heavy-handed then but I think the series ended on a more political note when a new Christian preacher came to town and didn’t want to share space with “Islam-y types”.

I think we can probably write the Fox script ourselves. I wonder if Chad will be making a clock in one of the episodes.

Will all the actors loose their heads over this pilot?

Hollywood lies to itself, and everyone else. It’ll say that the show is edgy un-pc, but it will be completely pc. Not like All in the Family in any regard.

I have a suggestion for a show. Christian quarterback is under fire for kneeling in prayer after football games. So Chad along with his Jewish girl schoolmate organize a support protest where they attend football game, she wearing a hijab and Chad wearing a yarmulke. After the game, both kneel down in front of press box in prayer. Won’t hold my breath.
