machetecolumbus

A Mediterranean restaurant in Columbus called “Nazareth.” It will be interesting to see if we get the whole story about the attacker. These days it can be terrorists (they do love their machetes, don’t they) or, with the economy so bad and mental illness and drug abuse so rife, it could be a lone lunatic. But until we get those specifics once must consider Islamic terrorism. Also glad the perp won’t be costing the city any money with a trial, over and out for him thank goodness. Send prayers up for the six victims.

Via Columbus Dispatch.

Columbus police have shot and killed a man after they say he went into a Mediterranean restaurant on the Northeast Side this evening and attacked several patrons with a machete.

According to a dispatcher, police were called just after 6 p.m. to the Nazareth Restaurant, 5239 N. Hamilton Road. The dispatcher said that six people were transported to area hospitals from the restaurant, though their names and the extent of their injuries aren’t known at this time.

The suspect then reportedly fled and was stopped by police about 5 miles away, off Stelzer Road and just south of Montclair Drive.

He was shot by police, the dispatcher said, and died at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center at 6:24 p.m.

Further information and the name of the suspect weren’t released.

UPDATE:Yep, Islamic terrorism.

The suspected attacker is a Somali national named Mohammad Barry, CBS reports. There are also reports that Barry was on a terrorist watchlist.

“Law enforcement is concerned that this incident has the hallmarks of the type of so-called “lone wolf” terrorist attack that they have been working to stop,” the report reads.

The suspect entered the restaurant earlier in the day and asked for the owner. He was then told the owner was not at the restaurant, and he left the building, WBNS-10TV reports.

Thirty minutes later, allegedly armed with a machete, the now-deceased suspect entered the Nazareth Restaurant and Deli at 6:30PM local time, witnesses say.

The owner of the restaurant is an Israeli Christian who formerly lived in Nazareth, Israel, according to reports.

Will their mayor rush in and rule out a Moslem attack?

Samuel L. Jackson is probably praying that the perp was some “crazy white guy,” because, ya know, he could deal with that…

    The restaurant has a website, NazarethDeli.com. Here’s a pic:

Here is a link to a Google street view of the Nazareth Deli. Looks like a pleasant enough place.

Oh, and the Yelp reviews are positive. (However, I do see a post by a dissatisfied diner: “The feta and olive appetizer was very small, the olives weren’t pitted and the iceberg lettuce tasted way way too icebergy, like it had chemicals on it or something.” After the FBI breaks down their door, they’ll think twice before posting another negative review.)

Better he meets his maker sooner rather than later.

With the court and jury system so badly compromised, the death penalty rarely translates to a death penalty verdict. The people have to support the criminal in jail for decades – with either a life sentence or the appeals that go with the death verdict…

Does Columbus OH allow concealed carry? Was this place a gun free zone? We all know why this scumbag did this why on earth is the FBI dragging its feet? By the way is Tammy going to go to the NRA convention in Louisville in May. I’d love to meet her there.

I used to go to his old restaurant. Haven’t been to this location. Owner kept asking me how the food was. Very annoying after the 3rd time he asked me. Will probably get my order to go if i stop there.
